X360 Origen Revealed - Update

[[Origen A Surprise]]

Microsoft has revealed details of its Origen promotional campaign to its European fans. Visitors to the Origen website were treated to a new type of fruit straight out of Brussels. Following the forbidden crop, gamers are met by some bunny goodness which could only be described as the lost, deleted scenes from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

The meat of Origen seems to be a competition which asks gamers to shift through the rumors and figure out the facts. The exact nature of the prize remains slightly obscure. Following the link labeled What is Origen leads to a rather odd movie showcasing tropical islands and people having weird fun, still it's good to see the Rabbit from Donnie Darko in a different role.

So Origen is not a date for Halo 3 and definitely not any other important announcement regarding the console or its games but rather a promotional event which will let some gamers try out the console first. Shame cause for a while there we thought Origen may have been some news-worthy story.

[[Origen To Be Revealed]]

Microsoft has troubled gamers for a while now with Origen, a website that features a countdown which does not match the official MS dates for the next-gen console's launch.

As is usually the case with such promotional events, a vast array of full-proof rumors have emerged claiming that Origen is anything from the announcement of Halo 3 to an Xbox 360 shop on Times Square to the announcement of an Unreal Engine 3-powered Fable sequel.

Microsoft has today confused the issue further by claiming that...

Origen is? The debut of next generation gaming. A real place dedicated to gaming pleasures. A place to play Xbox 360 before anyone else. A place to play all the Xbox 360 launch titles. A place to take on other gamers.

How do you get to Origen? Over 600,000 gamers have already tried to find out. They find a page at OrigenXbox360, but paradise is not there yet. The gates of Origen open soon. The European race for entry into Origen starts on 27 September 2005.

So apparently Europeans will get to glimpse at the heart of Origen before U.S. gamers do but stay with MG as we will let you know about what goes on behind the noise. Oh and if you have an idea about Origen's ehm... origins, let us know by following the comments tab above.

I hate marketing ploys they are always loads of hype and then a let down. Can anyone remember nVIDIA's 'The Power of 3' Everyone believed it to be 3 cards in SLi and it just turned out to be the launch of stuff everyone had known about for ages.

well when the ps3 lands, all other bets are off, the sheer popularity of sony and there playstations mean that if you are thinking of getting anything else but a ps3, the software support will be limited, nintendos gamecube was bang on out and out fun, but the masses say it is too childish, xbox on the other hand was to serious and 'manley' how many birds do you know own an xbox yet girlie gamers make up more than 35% of gamers, my money is on ps3. the thing that really blows is the security thingy that you now have to put in, but thats terrorism for ya.
