Microsoft DirectX is a group of technologies designed to make Windows-based computers an ideal platform for running and displaying applications rich in multimedia elements such as full-color graphics, video, 3D animation, and rich audio. DirectX 9.0 includes security and performance updates, along with many new features across all technologies, which can be accessed by applications using the DirectX 9.0 APIs.

Not only will they most likely support it, it will probably come stock on the game cds.What I want to know is, how long til its safe to use? Install it now, and I betcha the crashing will commence. Microsquash loves to beta test on actual people, thats why the DX versions everyone uses have names like 7.1 and 8.1B. Wait a month or 2 to grab this one, and you will be happier for it. :)

i'm using DX 9.0 and i have experienced a single crash, and quite frankly i don't know anyone who haas. As long as you keep all your drivers and files up to date as well as windows itself. (which means you people with the bad cd-key's who don't know how to get around that are screwed most likely)But as far as DX 9.0 goes, my games run faster, more stable, and some sound issues i had with an old PCI 128 Bound Blaster have been resolved.

Well, there is new functions in dx9 and the software is a bit "speed up:ed" so the games will work better.There is nemas problemas using this dx it's not even a beta so dont be afraid of using it.

Hey all i hate to shit on all your parades. I have winxp, Amd Athlon 2000+ Msi Geforce 4 ti4600 512ddr ram 80gig hard drive and most importantly an ECS K7S5A motherboard. As soon as i installed this i could not play my DX games properly. I have tested it with many many drivers both from Nvidia and from MSI to no avail. Will try re-format adn clean install of everything to see if that resolves issue. Just wondering if any one else is using this motherboard / gfx card and has experienced similar problems or not?? Any feedback would be very much appreciated. E-mail or leave a message here if you can't be botherd.

hell yeah!!directx 9 is the shit but does any no if geforce 4 cards support dx9 or aar the newest drivers supporting all features, because so far its runnig smooth,no crashes,games run better,audio a bit cleaner,over all its the shit..............9i have win xphome no problems here........SO EVERY GET THIS SHIT NOW!!!!way better then DX8.1 WAY BETTER

The geforce 4 cards do not support dx9. Not saying it won't run programs that use it. They simply won't take advantage of some of the new features. The only cards the fully support dx9 is ATI's new series of VPU's and nvidia's NV30 GPU's which hasn't been released yet (I think, don't quote me). But should be soon if it hasn't.

hmmmthats odd because nvidia .com says its 40 something drivers support dx9 im not sure which drivers but its going to very soon(i hope), it states new(vertex shaders,new antialliasing modes,and pixel shaders)... and no the new ge force FX is not out yet!!! (NOT SURE IF 41.09 SUPPORTS DX9) im using 40.72 till the new ones whql certified!!!
