ATI Improves Radeon 9600XT

It seems that ATI have an ace up their sleeve as far as the Radeon 9600XT is concerned.
Reviews of the card have been surfacing for a while now and most of them have been suggesting that the card is not all that different to the Radeon 9600 PRO.
Apparently ATI just sent the chip to manufacturers yesterday but managed to make a few changes that will make it run faster. It seems that ATI have managed to get their hands on silicon that can run faster than the one being used on the boards currently being reviewed.

This seems to be a strategy that ATI have been following for a while now and it worked very well for them when, while launching the 9600 PRO, they decided to recall the demonstration units they had already distributed and relaunched the board running faster than before. At the time that had proved the key move in helping the 9600 PRO beat NVidia's offering at the time.
While we cannot speculate how much faster the new Radeon 9600XT will be compared to the reviews we have been reading, it is safe to say that ATI would not be changing things if they didn't expect an adequate performance improvement. Expect new, revised, reviews out in the very near future.

Nvidia has fallen and can't get up...at least until they release the NV40. NV3xx cards are a failure and a wash. They know it too. The 9600xt will be a great card to over-clock and it comes with HL2 also. Until Nvidia can get it's act together with DX9 performance on it's fx cards, they are screwed for now.....

Thats sad that you used to be a fanboy of nvidia and now ur not just because of the slump. The nvidia cards were FAR superior up to this current generation and they were the first to introduce the .13 micron process. and oh ya, yes the current generation goes to ATI (they are great cards) but name one other generation that EVER beat an nvidia card.......tahts what i thought. youve got it backwords, up until now nvidia has always stomped ati. and when they come out with their v50 drivers watch out....mark my words they will come back and decimate all. they are always superior in 3dmark03 anyways.....that says something guys....wait for the new drivers.

You kids are so annoying. Get outside and stop worrying your red little faces off. ATI rules now (and will be a major player for years to come) because of a few things:1. They've been around since 19852. ATI's hardware engineers are extremely talented.3. They have an open, honest attitude towards the industry. Especially towards gamers like you and I.4. They are Canadian. :)5. They follow and actively contribute to industry standards like OGL and DX. They promote the agreed upon standards, not their own egotisitcal ideas (Unlike Nvdia).6. The software side of the company has matured to the point that Driver issues will never be a problem again.7. Nvidias "The way its ment to be played" program is geared towards PUBLISHERS, While ATI's "Get in the Game" has primarily focused on the DEVELOPERS.8. They don't heavily "optimize" their drivers.9. They don't pretend to be Intel.BTW- The 'R4v3N' moron who posted his "official" results concerning previous ATI/Nvida offerings is flat out wrong. First off there was never any Radeon 7000/8000 cards. Second, if you had checked any of those scores later on after ATI's drivers had matured, you would have noticed a much different picture. For example, the 8500 beat the gf3ti500 in ALOT of benchies afterwards.

Thats sweet that ATI is improving the 9600 pro xt even more, seeing as I saw some benchmarks and ya it didn't beat the 9600 pro or 9500 pro by that much. The 9600 pro xt will hopefully reach speeds closer to the 9700 pro. Can't wait to buy it!!

Graphic card is like politics. You have to choose stupid company over other.ATI - Make fast card. Sh*tty driver. Keeps releasing newer card suddenly & drop support for older card.Nvidia - Cost too much. Comes with denonitor that works with any Nvidia card.Both card IMO sucks.

Wow the person that posted about how Sony Processors are the best and that we are all noobs, you are the biggest retard ever you f**ktard. Woop de f**king do the emotion engine is garbage compared to what ATI and Nvidia's graphics cards can do. You are just another dumbass ps2 fanboy that needs to be shot in the face. ATI has released a number of drivers that have significantly improved the performance on their cards and fixed most if not all of the problems. Nivida's drivers are working great too and have improved the performance a good deal as well. Sony's processor is a pile of garbage compared to these companies' graphics cards.

wow, you didn't hear much about the 5950 did ya, cause it didn't rise it to a new level, it is just the same as the 5900 only slightly overclocked. thats why they just added a fifty to it, and not make it the 6000. so unless you havea water cooled pc be careful with it. cause ALL they did was overclock it, i am speculating only problems will come from it, cause it'll be bound to run hotter than needed
