MonsterGecko announced it is now shipping its PistolMouse FPS, a high-performance mouse for first-person shooter (FPS) games. Announced during E3 2004, PistolMouse FPS provides gamers with faster reaction speed and precision optical tracking. It has realistic pistol styling, dual aluminum triggers, an over-sized selectable scroll wheel, ergonomic hand position, and a high-resolution 800 dpi optical sensor.
It seems that gamers have responded well to the device already, with the company running-out of units based on pre-orders alone. Most mice, joysticks and gamepads require full-hand motion or repositioning of fingers to execute certain actions and don't provide the resolution or precision needed for first-person shooters.
The unique patent-pending base design of the PistolMouse FPS incorporates an offset optical sensor for quick response with simple wrist action. The PistolMouse FPS includes a primary and secondary grip trigger, plus an ambidextrous selectable thumb scroll wheel for both right and left-handed players.
