Only very dumb outdated people say ATI has bad drivers. the present catalyst drivers are so much better than anything nvidia has yet to put out. i'm pushing my AIW 32ddr radeon to run splinter cell just great. and the FX is pretty dead, they're saying only 2000 will make it to the US. the 9800 and so on are just pushing the limits, and thanks for them, they'll make other cards cheaper.

Wrong Pramma......I don't see the graphic card getting cheaper. They are 1.5x more expensive than previous year. If ATI shuts out Nvidia, then ATI will surely increase their graphic card price. No competition = pricey card. Pricey card = crappy product.

I hope Nvidia is not out of it yet! Even though it is annoying as f**k listening to the fan boys, we need all the competition we can get! Nvidia has, in the past, delievered solid performance! 3dfx delivered, not the fastest, but the most stable frame rate and durable cards I've used. 3dfx would still be around if they had'nt shot themsleves in the foot. Nvidia did them a favor by buying them out! They were so in debt, there was defiantely no hope. The only thing that I question is how deep these delays, bad reviews, and swaying performance is hitting Nvidia financially. It's scarily seeming that Nvidia's next cards, unless built on an entirely new design, will suffer as well. I think they bit off a bit more than they could chew and are now choking. I pray that they are not following 3dfx's path. Hopefully 3D Labs, SIS, S3 (VIA), and maybe even Trident will get in the picture. It is well known that the performance of these companies' entrance cards will be no where near the current top cards, maybe they will be able to sell enough to be able to make ones that do. One thing is defiantely true! We need a non biased, open sourced, powerful rendering standard that will offer compatablility that give no particular company advantage (Nvidia's stronghold up to this point), will give programming innovation and technology back to programmers, and will be completely upgradeable and user friendly.

The RV350 is directly aimed towards the 4400ti series which also has 4 pipelines, but offering directx9 support and running on the r350 chip. Well, I think what the good Dr. is saying is that they're going to use 4 on the mainstream card to keep costs down, so it can compete with the other popular mainstream cards. Same price but better performance. (even with the limited 4 pixel pipeline)That Jeff K. I have had so many bad experiences with ATI, in the future, I will sooner purchase a 3dfx before another ATI card, even if nVidia goes down the hole (which I'm highly doubtful of).]In addition, if I purchase an ATI card, I must make a choice between Linux and gaming, and you can be sure as hell that ext3/reiserfs will be pimpin' on my HD for years to come.
