There is no official news yet, but the latest issue of Xbox World 360 magazine claims that the next Splinter Cell chapter, Splinter Cell: Conviction, has been delayed to "holidays 2009 or early 2010".

Splinter Cell: Conviction has been in development for a few years already. The game was originally planned for an 2007 release before being delayed to 2008 and then to "post 2008".

According to the magazine, the lengthy delay is needed because the game is getting a design overhaul after being outdated by recent stealth games, namely Ubisoft's own Assassin's Creed.
