SEGA Announces First next-gen Title

SEGA announced Condemned, a suspense-filled, first-person psychological thriller game developed exclusively for the next generation of game consoles and the PC.

Developed by Monolith Productions, the game allows players to experience an unnatural level of psychological tension as they use their instincts, forensic tools, and melee combat to track serial killers and bring them to justice. Gamers will play as Ethan Thomas, an FBI agent in the Serial Crimes Unit (SCU), whose pursuit of relentless serial killers leads him through detailed urban environments filled with deadly sociopaths who lurk on the periphery of humanity.

SEGA expects Condemned to engage the game player with visceral, in-your-face, urban combat and an unparalleled level of unpredictability, said Scott A. Steinberg, vice president of entertainment marketing, SEGA of America. The atmospheric tension and cinematic qualities of Condemned offer consumers the rich experience of a psychological thriller; something that has not been accomplished on previous hardware platforms.

New leaps in technology are allowing our teams to create immersive game environments that are incredibly realistic, said Samantha Ryan, CEO of Monolith Productions. Monolith's goal with Condemned, is to combine a disturbing atmosphere with realistic physics, devious AI, and a sophisticated combat system.

Condemned, the first next-generation console and PC game announced by SEGA, is slated to ship in Winter 2005. If we are to judge by SEGAs use of the plural consoles in the first paragraph of this story, we should expect to see the game appear on both XBox 2 and PS3 with Nintendo's Revolution being just an outsider for the time being.

SEGA is one of the best gaming conpanies in the world. Always first to market and always innovative.To bad they had so much bad luck because american gamers are generally to stupid to what a good game is and I say this with every right and first had experience being an american gamer myself.

Sega rule! The best console ever was the Sega Megadrive/Genesis. Sega even brought out the game gear which looks like what a GBA looks like now and this was in early 90's it even had a backlit screen!Although this "next-gen" game of theirs is gonna be f**king shite, for one main reason, Americans can't make scary games! The japanese are the best at doing that, just look at silent hill, I can think of no game scarier than that, Silent Hill makes Resident Evil look like dog turd. I recommend that you watch ringu, which is the original japanese film from the crap American remake of the Ring.

EA should die! They'r taking over the gaming world, I mean they take over almost every decent games company there is e.g. Westwood, 2015, they people who make timesplitters lol, the people who made burnout. I not saying that the games EA release are shit (although the vast majority of them are). I still think Sega should try and make a new console! The dreamcast wasn't bad.

Actually the Dreamcast was a stellar console in every way. The only problem with it was Sega's reputation in not supporting it's consoles along the way. They brought out too many consoles and killed them right away. So when they finally brought out a good system, it died. A shame.
