Pachter: Microsoft Will Turn Around Xbox One Image In 6 Months Or Lower Price

Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter believes that Microsoft is able to leverage Xbox One online DRM removal to convince consumers that its console is worth the extra $100 above PlayStation 4’s price. And if not, it is always possible to lower price and level the playing field.

"The focus will shift from Microsoft's onerous policies to the price differential between the Xbox One (at $499) and the PS4 (at $399)," he explained. "The differential is due to the inclusion of Kinect (a high definition camera with a microphone array) with every Xbox One; Microsoft intends to offer a more robust hardware bundle than Sony will offer, and Microsoft is convinced that consumers will ultimately appreciate the value proposition presented by Kinect... Microsoft has not done a particularly good job of communicating the value proposition to consumers, but today's announcement will remove an impediment to the company's ability to get its message across."

"We are confident that with six months of focused messaging, Microsoft can fully level the playing field with Sony, and we expect the Xbox One to sell as many units as the PS4. If we are wrong, we think that Microsoft is prepared to lower price next year."

Pachter also stated that he expect the next-gen console cycle to last for 10 years or so.

It has been confirmed that

It has been confirmed that the NSA has back door access to Skype and M$ data centers. Combined with the always connected Kinect, you would have to be a complete fool to get an Xboner. Sony has my money this time around. And M$ never again. They've dug their grave.

HAHA

You have your work cut out for you Microsoft. NOW EAT YOUR OWN SHIT AND SMILE AT ME WHILE DOING SO! Now thats a start...

Microsoft is under a rock,

Microsoft is under a rock, they do exactly whats opposite from what gamers want, despite years of feedback, they should have know the shit they pulled was not the way to go, but they did it anyway. If they wanted to create something innovative, they could have just had an option for always online mode, enable or disable. Just the sheer stupidity on their end is not excusable, and to be honest, we don't need a console that's almost exactly like the ps4 but slower and more expensive. Even to consider buying an xbox one is just out of pure fanboyism and toolism. You're better off getting a WiiU than that hunk o shit. Kinect 2.0 will migrate to pc, so if you want it, that would better the better option.

The reality is they almost

The reality is they almost screwed the gaming industry up !!! just think if sony would have followed we all would have eventually had to swallow are pride and buy either one . but thanks to sony whichever way you sway it WE ARE A SAVED GAMING GENERATION

"if sony would have followed

"if sony would have followed we all would have eventually had to swallow are pride and buy either one" - The words of a weak willed simpleton. No you wouldn't have to do that, you could just get a wii u (if you REALLY wanted a console) or a PC. The only thing is you'd have to learn to aim in fps games because aim assist is console junk.

Xbox one future

My gaming friends and I all agree that, despite Microsoft's change in policies on the Xbox One (or given the new attitude "Xbox 180"). None of us are going to buy one. Some were hardcore Xbox players. The attitude is generally, Screw Microsoft for what they TRIED to do, regardless of if they change (out of public pressure) Let's not forget that there is still a camera in your living room, the validity of the privacy argument aside, Microsoft could have dissuaded any concerns by simply putting a switch on the side that physically turns the camera/mic off. This makes the camera a choice and would quell most of the arguments. (Since a version of the console WITHOUT a camera seems out of question for them) A decision I don't get, my understanding was that about 25% of Xbox gamers had a Kinect, and that it was generally seen as a "Power-Glove" like peripheral by core gamers (a cool idea, but useless in practical application). It doesn't make sense to me that you would take something so badly received and make it standard. Then there is the whole attitude about people without broadband. "We have a product for them, it's called Xbox 360" (might not be an exact quote) What I get from this is a casual dismissal of anyone with high-speed internet. "Can't get high-speed? Then I guess your stuck with our 8 year old choice" Finally it's Microsoft's general attitude towards games; "Trust us to put a camera, capable of monitoring your heart-rate in your living room, and trust us not to do anything you wouldn't like with it. BUT we can't trust you to go 24 hours without "calling home" to make sure that your "license to play" is valid, and this is WITH their P.R spin. Can you imagine what they think of games without spinning? No... just no... I'm done, and no amount of ass kissing will get me back. Microsoft has lost my business.

Engenius

I know that most of us comment here are just ignorants without the proper knowledge to be speaking here, but please be objective on Xbox One analysis. In my opinion Microsoft couldn't care less about Xbox One hardware, this come from the fact of their announcement of the cloud processing support to the console, let's not ague about if it will work properly or not..., what matters is the idea. Microsoft is not building a console, it's creating a multimedia system, that also supports games, and that it is mostly a cloud system. This means that you don't really need Xbox One to have access to this system, in short, the new Xbox console is not the Xbox One, but the Xbox Live itself. If it can increase the processing power of the console it can do the same to any other machine, being it a mobile, a laptop, a TV or whatever. I don't think there is any need for me to explain the ramifications of this, but since there will be some that don't really understand, this makes it possible to play a Xbox One game in anything that can run Windows (probably this would be the requirement), and the cloud support system would ensure that it would run properly. Leaving aside the details for now, the idea is brilliant, and decades ahead of PS4.

I guarantee after the initial

I guarantee after the initial zombie bots purchase their fix (just like crackheads), xbox1 will either do a Sega and pull the plug or do a Nintendo and put it on lifesupport (slowly die) and keep it out there 5 years with bullshit support... Look at the WiiU, piece of last-gen shit, still crawling, on life support. what the fuck? Why they never listen to the gamers, the very people that are your customers and who will be buying all this shit, is beyond me. This is what happens if you smoke too much of the wrong shit.

Anyone who is now thinking of

Anyone who is now thinking of getting a xboxone should remember this any of the gaems you thought were amazing at E3 were running on pc hardware. so peeps dont be fooled ask yourself why would microsoft pull something like this think about it they are supposed to be as close to launch has ps4 yet the games were running on pcs? either the boxes dont work or are unstable which is bad news or they are that good and microsoft used ppc hardware to create a false sense of greatness that wont be in the final software

I think they ran it on a pc

I think they ran it on a pc which spec matches the new xbox version of the game or maybe a little less like the number of prototype boxes they sent out to developers ages ago, either way is all good but i am going ps4

LOL

SteamBox? Are you kidding me? You'd rather get a Steambox than an Xbox one or a PS4? Again Steambox is over priced for what you get

They both SUCK

The Shitbox or gaystation are all crap and are only to beat money out off you pockets!!!! WAKE UP!!!! Its all Bullshitt&lies (sry my French) and the bull they tell ppl to try and convince them theirs is better, while its a big joke, and then they demand it being online to be able to play or else hit the freeway. Told you before ,but gone say it again: stick the console where the sun dont shine! ;)

Stigma.

There's still always gonna be that stigma attached to the Shitbox One now because M$ has shown that it has every intention of locking shit down if they can get away with it. Maybe they disabled it now, but it'll return. Sony did it, so will Micro$hit. WTF do you think Win 8 is all about?

Very possible.

I know, from what I understand, the DRM is still there, within the console. When you buy it you have to connect to the internet and download a system update to disable it. They aren't actually removing the functionality, just disabling it. Sounds like they may be preparing to enable it again later after sales pick up. I hope not.

"Pachter also stated that he

"Pachter also stated that he expect the next-gen console cycle to last for 10 years or so." Rolling 10 years with already outdated specs?! ROFL! Captcha: love is blind ... yea shitbox and gaystation fans are living proof

You have to admit that

You have to admit that PlayStation sounds indeed like some gay nightclub. The only console I might have had some interest was the SteamBox and still no news of it so I guess that was vapor(steam)ware.

Ok well on topic, Microsoft

Ok well on topic, Microsoft is playing a catch-up game right now with Sony. Yes they removed the ridiculous DRM but they still have a console that costs each consumer an extra $100 for a piece of hardware that really only about 27% of consumers want. Microsoft needs to release the "Lite" edition without Kinect and just accept that no core gamer wants to have to scream him/herself hoarse at their TV to play a game or watch the cable. Also, wouldn't it have made more sense to include support for things like programming guides? Who wants to channel surf through 150+ channels when your cable box likely already includes a TV Guide with minute-by-minute channel listings? I say screw the X1 as a cable box, put games on it, it will sell; and stop trying to reinvent the freaking Laserdisc you jerks.

M$ thinks its inovative with

M$ thinks its inovative with XBO and its voice and movement channel switchign with a console that isnt even released yet? Sorry Samsung beat ya to it. So they cost a bit much, but all in all it still costs less then you will have to give out for all the games your spoiled brat will demand.
