State Of Decay Banned In Australia

Following Saints Row 4 ban, the Australian Classification Board has also banned State of Decay.

"We've run afoul of certain prohibitions regarding the depiction of drug use," Undead Labs' founder Jeff Strain posted on the game's forum. "We're working with [publisher] Microsoft to come up with options, including changing names of certain medications in the game to comply with ratings requirements. Whatever our path forward, it's going to take a bit."

A Microsoft spokesman also confirmed that the company " is currently evaluating the options with regards to the title's classification. The Australian Classification system plays an important role in ensuring that Australians can only access age-appropriate games and content."

"I know this is frustrating – believe me, we're frustrated too," said Jeff Strain. "But each country has the right to set its own rules about content, and it's our responsibility to comply with them. Rest assured we'll do everything we can to find a way to get the game into your hands."

And us gamers were so excited

And us gamers were so excited for this new R18+ rating system. We thought things were going to change. We thought we would get games through the rating system easier with no stupid changes or censorship or complete bans. We were wrong. All they have done is given old MA15+ games a R18+ rating. Same old shit. Still restricted to all hell. Fuck the aussie rating system. And then they wonder why movie and game piracy is so high in Australia... BECAUSE YOU IDIOTS BAN/CENSOR EVERYTHING!

WTF?

What the fuck is wrong with Australia? If every country has such a "right" to set its own rules about content, then why is the government setting the rules, rather than the country? No one has any right to tell anyone else what they can & can't do if there is no harm being done, period. Get it off the torrent sites, shoving the rules up their makers assholes in the process, just like we always do. Preach about freedom, practice oppression, that's the government.

Wel, the argument is that

Wel, the argument is that there is damage being done, and there are studies to prove it. Therefore, the burden of proof is on the detractors to prove there isn't - which is incredibly difficult. It's really quite straightforward to understand. The only reason it's been so hard to get a self-regulated body started is because of the caustic attitude gamers in this country have, which makes it impossible to cooperate with any kind of body of people. They're just verifying the hypothesis, not counteracting it.

Ahh yes welcome to australia

Ahh yes welcome to australia the place where you dont have to think because the goverment dictates to you on how you should think feel and act. Oh what i can order it on line because we live in a open world where money talk and bullshit walks. Dam mr goverment you cant ban anything anymore. Its gotta suck that some other country gets my money now and you miss out your cut.

Thought I better add

This will just hurt developers too since banning will just cause more piracy. It's a loose loose situation, government don't get there payoff, the Australian citizen don't get their game and of cause, the developers suffer...
