My spaceship is bigger than your spaceship

Spaceships

What'sup space nerds. Hows your biggest and baddest craft flying these days? I bet mine's bigger. It's the John A. Warden Battleship, man. From StarShip Troopers Invasion? That's 1,500 metres of pure ass kicking right there son.

Oh... yours is a Titan ship from Eve? Ok never mind.

If you've ever wondered how big space ships can be, the answer is: huge. Take the biggest ship you can think of, and chances are, you'll find one that's bigger on this amazingly created comparison of every space ship from every sci-fi universe. There might be the odd one missing if you want to get pedantic, but at a zoomed in glance, it looks like creator Dirk Loechel has covered most of the bases.

Here's a list of just a few of the sci-fi movie and game universes represented on this massive chart:

Eve Online
Warhammer 40,000
Star Wars
Star Trek
Halo
Starship Troopers
Babylon 5
Robotech
Farscape
Firefly
Titan A.E
Aliens

And the list goes on and on. Red Dwarf is even on there you guys.

Which is the biggest though? It'll take some scrolling around to check the sizes of a few of the biggest, as they all clock in about the same size.

Eve might win if you take into consideration the total mass of a ship, with its Titans clearly dominating the picture. Warhammer 40k comes close to the top with some of its biggest creations and Star Wars has perhaps the most super-long vessels around, but ultimately, the big cahuna, listed at 24,000 metres across, is the city destroying Mothership from Independence Day.

As much as I like spaceships and as cool as I think the comparison shot is, I have to ask... Does any of these games have any ship that looks cool? All these ships are pretty bland and dark and just lacking character. Not trolling here btw.

1. Your gallery images are

1. Your gallery images are auto-compressed, so we can't see the full sized image here, I had to google to find the actual chart. 2. The list is tiny and not very comprehensive, it doesn't have any ship stats like mass or cubic feet, only approximate length. 3. Both the chart and this website failed to recognize that it doesn't contain EVERY starship. In fact there is only one sci-fi game represented on the list. Where the fuck are the X universe and Freespace ships? At least google just a little bit, I'm not asking for much, just a tiny bit of research so you look somewhat like a gamer and not a fraud Mr. Whoopty. Thanks.

#4 The ship from Independence Day you are calling the "Mothership" is not the "Mothership" but one of the smaller discs that break off of the actual Mothership. It would take many dozens of the break-away discs lined up next to each other to stretch from the front of the "Mothership" to the back of it...and that's not even talking about the incredible size of the "Mothership" in terms of height or width, only length. So sad.

Agree

The dude above me is right. What kind of retard authors are on this site. Utter failure to do decent research or even provide a link to the full sized image since they uploaded compressed one's. Very mediocre effort of a story, it is a lot better not to write an article at all. Also, HomeWorld, a game of the year (1999) is not even mentioned anywhere. And out of the many games I've played, that has the single biggest ship. It is not a player controlled unit, it is the image that makes the background of the playable area, but damn, that ship is an eye opener.

Thanks guys

May I refer you to: "There might be the odd one missing if you want to get pedantic." But yea, that image could do with being bigger. Unfortunately that's the biggest our back end will support. I'll add a link to the full size one.

pewpew

Might want to point out mind that although most of those ships are larger, the lexx can destroy whole planets with little effort.... makes the other ones look like they are compensating ;)
