Following the unprecedented success of The Matrix, almost every one expected a sequel. What was uncertain was where exactly would the story go. Much to our delight, the Wachowski brothers, creators of The Matrix, announced that they are filming, back to back, two sequels to the original. The Matrix Reloaded will be the first, expected to be released in May 2003 while Matrix - Revolutions will probably see an August or November 2003 release.
The Matrix Reloaded trailer is expected in about a month and will certainly become the most sought after file on the net.
Everyone is eager to see what the story will be like but what is even more important to most fans is to see where the makers will go with the fight scenes and the special effects. It is easy to understand such anticipation since the original Matrix contained fight scenes and special effects, which became the most copied in the history of cinema. When asked about this visual-effects supervisor John Gaeta, developer of the innovative bullet-time filming technique in which the camera apparently circles Neo in slow motion as he dodges bullets, said We're just trying to make the best and most surreal action ever,
Although most of the details of the story remain closely gurded secrets, as filming begun some information has been leaked.
Part two, of the Matrix Trilogy, will focus on action and will involve Neo attempting to convince the machines to set his people free. Most of part two takes place in the digital world of the Matrix. The more serious part three will be set in the scorched real world. What is certain is that in the sequelse viewers will visit the vast underground city of Zion, in which reside the remaining few hundred thousand humans who have managed to escape the battery plant.
Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity) are certain to be back. This time they will be joined by Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe, another rebel and a former lover of Morpheus', and Nona Gaye, daughter of Marvin Gaye, will be Zee, a resident of Zion. Gaye stepped in to replace Aaliyah as she died in a plane crash last year. Gloria Foster, who played the All-Seeing, but not All-Telling Oracle in the original, also died in September, at age 64, after she shot her scenes for part two. In part three, with the help of a quick re-write on the script, the Oracle will be back, but in a different form.
