The next Star Trek film will inject some new creative blood into the mix with the addition of John Logan as the primary screenwriter. Logan's previous film credits include "Bats" (1999) and work on the screenplays for "Any Given Sunday" and "Gladiator," as well as last year's acclaimed TV movie "RKO 281."

In terms of the next film, Star Trek Executive Producer Rick Berman recently said that fans can expect "a very action-oriented story that revolves around a remarkable villain. A higher percentage of this film will take place in outer space than in our previous films."
"Star Trek X" (working title) is scheduled for release the weekend of Thanksgiving 2001.

Star Trek X ,the new movie

Insurrection had far too much to live up to after the spectacular First Contact. FC brought Star Trek back to the masses, so obviously the expectations afterwards would cause Insurrection to seem decidedly pov.

Yeah, creative blood my ass. This guy has great films on his resume. Bats? Good GOD. Any Given Sunday? I didn't realize there WAS a script to that piece of filth. He was a touchup writer for Gladiator, too, so -- sorry folks. Star Trek is done. Let it die with dignity. Please.

Firstly, star trek will never die, itll go on further than star wars.Secondly, first contact was better than insurrection, insurrection seemed more like an episode with a bigger budget and more time. it didnt work!they should make a film with a romulan element to it.

Firstly, sorry but DS-9 was the biggest mistake.Secondly, why is it that every odd Star Trek movie blows goats.Thirdly, to answer the latter - the producers of Star Trek are just trying way too hard to make a great movie in the mean while obliterating what Star Trek was ment to be and represent in the first place.Lastly, I agree with Mr. anti-"BATS" man.

To the moron who said DS9 was a big mistake, I don't think you've seen Voyager. Personally, I think DS9 was the best series next to the original. The show was more epic then Next Gen and Voyager.Personally, I think they need to get Leonard Nimoy to Executive Produce Trek 10, and Nicholas Meyer to direct.

Please please please! Not another star trek movie with Jonathin Frakes as Riker! I will strap myself in bed, with a bullet proof vest on and shoot myself in the head! (thank you eminem)Ga! I cant stand him!Anyway, while I like all good sci-fi, I worry that the new movie is just attempting to keep the old tired Star Trek blood alive with yet another bad patch job transfusion of "newness". With a new show on its way, Im suspecting that the ST producers are afraid of letting this old beaten horse die, cause then where will they hitch their wagons to? Nowhere, they will have nothing to give them credance as writers, and they will be let go from Paramount, shamed for the last big ST movie. If Gene is in heaven right now, he is pulling his hair out over #9 (im not even gonna attempt to spell it).-Bottom line, the longer they drag this out, the harder they are going to have to try to top themselves. The last movie must have been an attempt to set the bar down a few notches so they wont have to try so hard.*kill will riker

Who's the nut who bashes star trek? Just coz u do not understand the significance of u r computer and the role star trek plays. Imagine a world without u r computers or cars or planes. Trekking is a way for us to imagine how good it would be to have that kind of technology for us to travel in our own universe. So if u are not a fan keep out of this webpage and shut up.

Whats up with the Star Trek and Riker bashing? from some one who can't spell INSURRECTION? Guess what, manny people like Star Trek, guess what else, manny people like TV shows, often when we see TV shows we like we often check out web sites about the shows, read the books about the shows and so on... manny of us would like to see a good series like Star Trek continue on into manny movies and more TV episodes, Why not for the cost of a movie ticket, VHS tape, or just turning on the TV it's well worth it to see more of a series that laster over 30 years. Movie 9 STAR TREK INSURRECTION didn't stand out as the big adventure everyone needs to run out ans see, Earth wasn't in danger, the whole universe wasn't in danger, this was not the end of life as we know it, but the story was a good story that used it's chacters well, it wasn't as full of hype as some other movies, no borg no big time travel to earth of the 1980 or 2060s no death of Spock no death of Kirk, just a good story, not the best of Star Trek, but it didn't ruin anything. Sure the Other Star Trek movies were good often better but Star Trek is not a dead horse. I hope move 10 will have some big event like a Borg attack but in the end the most important thing will be will it be a good story, and I think it will. Long live Star Trek, may it have more years ahead than behind.

To be honest with you Star Trek 9 was more in keeping with the indeals of the creator of trek Mr Rodenberry and I loved it. The future should be one of united peace, the defence of what is right and where the actions of one benefit the many. You want mindless violence as in First Contact then go see the mindless brain dead STAR WARS crap.
