Yes, this is the real thing. This is the leaked demo for Doom III. We've played it and it rocks, check out our screenshots.

This E3 Doom III demo contains three playable levels and is available through different file sharing programs. Some are legitimate and some are not, therefore download at your own risk.

Instructions for playing Doom 3 demo:

1. Visit http://www.rarlab.com and download WinRAR version 3.0. After you download WinRAR, install it. Open the rar file for Doom 3 which you downloaded (doom_iii.rar) using WinRAR. Once the file is open in WinRAR, click the "Extract To" button, choose a directory to extract the game to, and hit "ok." After the files are done extracting, open the folder which you extracted it too, and go on to step 2.

2. In your Doom_IIIbase directory, open the runact.cfg file.

3. Comment out the last line. In other words, add the "#" sign in front of the string "devmap $e3_intro" so it looks like the following:

#devmap $e3_intro

4. Launch the game using the main exe file.

5. Press the tilde key (~) to bring down the console (just like Q3)

6. Type the following: exec runact.cfg

7. Hit enter, and wait. Seriously, it takes about 5 mins to load all the everything.

8. Once it is done, you can launch the intro movie, or play yourself.

9. From the console, use the following commands:
map e3/intro (Loads intro movie)
map e3/e3_1 (Loads first map)
map e3/e3_2 (Loads second map)
map e3/e3_3 (Loads third map)
map fred/e3bathroom5 (won't work for some people)

Changing controls:
From the console, type: bindlist

This will list all the currently bound keys and their functions. Use the page up and page down keys to scroll through the list. The controls for standard movement are not bound to the regular WASD config, so type the following to put it back to normal:
bind w _forward
bind s _back
bind a _moveleft
bind d _moveright

Checking FPS: type com_drawfps 1

@JohnMy system is better than that hardware wise, and it still make no difference. No, im not your averate newbie, Im saying that it wont run nearly as good, at least until the final version comes out.

Just 'cause it seems like UR interested: AMD = ADVANCED Micro Devices, not American, although they are an American company who started off in California in the late 60s if I recall correctly... nVidia was also founded in the States, also California if I'm not mistaken, think it was '92 or '93; doesn't really matter NEway :) So I'm a South African with connection speeds way too poor to even consider DLing the demo; don't think I wanna play it NEways, it kinda spoils what ID has in store for us don't you think? (And we still have Q3!)

Listen up, guys.It is in the shared P2P networks (Like Kazaa) But DO NOT USE KAZAA! It has the spyware CyDoor, and can really mess up your system. I use KazaaLite (From [url removed] which is Kazaa with the spyware and all the ads removed. The REAL demo is a .RAR file, and is 372,834 KB. I've seen two different files, one called doom_iii.rar, and the other doom3.e3-demo-alpha-leak.rar (Some changed it to .exe because they're morons) ANYTHING OF A DIFFERENT FILESIZE IS NOT DOOM 3!!!

Hey, The Thing...[url removed] will save you a bundle, and newegg.com has awesome specials and free FedEx and PERFECT customer service for RMAs. I've built 4 systems so far, and now the word is getting out that I build computers, and now I can make $100-$200 profit each and still give a guy a great deal! Anything CompUSA or BestBuy has, I can build for $500 less, and include a decent videocard, unlike the crap 16MB onboard or GF2/32MB cards that BestBuy is putting in their P4 2.4GHz systems at $1600

I've downloaded with KaZaA first about 300mb, but then I saw GJ's help, but it doesn't work anymore!So download with KaZaA!!It is about 370mb so wait and wait until it has loaded!That's a long time!But this game is f**king great and a little bit scary I think!!I've got AMD 2400Mhz,256MB memory and Geforce 4 Ti 4200 and the game works fine but every time I shoot or see a monster it's a little bit slow!But look at the graphics!!!They are awesome!!!And the bathroomvideo where the "pig" eats fadass zombie and then hides into the darkness!!When you look at the mirror in the bathroom the pig comes behind you!!!I scared!!!Seeya maggots!!-ZoMBiE-

Yeah id is pissed off publicly, but I'm sure they're glad that it's caused so much talking. if this dont improve their sales, i dunno what will. And id wont drop the game, its too good, and they know it. Also, it isn't ruined, its something like 4 levels isn't it? That's not gonna ruin any game, the demo will prob have more levels than that.

Ahh crap, I take that back...The demo I have now has 56 corrupt files in it. I DID have a good copy 2 weeks ago, but that hard drive crashed (MAXTOR SUCKS!!!) I didnt back it up, as I only backup once a week... anyways, the game plays great, AMD XP2000/768MB DDR PC2100, 80GB+80GB Maxtor suckass drives, GF3Ti500, has benchmarked with MadOnion 3DMARK at 8000 and got 60FPS and flawless operation. The game is a little similar it seems to me, like that arcade game where you shoot the zombies...which means I might not like this game too much...but then again, i play BladeMistress (.com) more than C&C:R now anyways...maybe I'm a retard...

All you doubters need to wake up. I never gave up, it takes ALOT of looking. I don't know if this is still up, but this is the site I finally got it from:[url removed] got it in 1 hr 43 mins at an avg of 64 kb/s. I guarantee this is the real game. Oh, and people have been saying that KillaJ has viruses and whatnot, so download at your own risk.

Also, all you people who think you have bad systems, don't give up. My friend with a 650 mhz athlon, geforce 3 ti 200, and 256 sd ram runs with 5 fps when monsters are around, and 10-15 when walking around. I have a 900 mhz athlon with a geforce 4 ti4600 and 256 mb ram and I get 20-25 walking around and 5-10 when monsters appear. Keep in mind this is with graphics on FULL. The game looks simply amazing.

Just got doom 3 off kazaa... only took 3 overnight downloading sessions on 56k.. can't wait to get cable at the end of the month. Well it played pretty sh!t as expected on my 1.2ghz geforce 2, but as long as you don't get attacked it runs pretty smooth. getting Geforce 4 4600 and 1.7ghz tomorrow, so it shold run better. Look, forget the dumbass URLs guys. I know eDonkey does anal sex with the dog, but Doom III IS on there. It is a 364.10MB RAR file, ONLY download one of that size. k?It's also on the porn saturated Kazaa, it is in 372,833KB and a RAR. Let it download one night... or two or three...Take this advice, and quit being a baby and go get it from one of those programs. If you keep having problems (or you got a 56k) then it's not ment for you. Im sorry.This Alpha kicks ass in all the right places, graphics wise. But the frame rate bites harry balls. But just like the leaked pre Quake III, it's gonna be a bitch.If ya got the demo, cheers. I'm glad we had our hour of fun, really. Now when is the REAL damn demo coming out?K.C. Cool~~

Hey everybody!!!Open console and write "give all"I know that the level shuts down but the go again in that level what you played and press F12 to get a Rocketlauncher!!!I'm not joking!!That was an accident when I got it at the first time!There are some other weapons too!!I maybe pushed "next weapon" and there are some plasmarifles and stuff...but all those scifi weapons are from QUAKE3!!!That's the truth!If you can do the same trick you know!!BYE!!!-ZoMBiE-
