Freelancer Demo

OMG!!!THIS DEMO RULZ!!!I cant wait for the full version!!Anyone who says that this game is stupid --) Y O U A R E A F A G .

I was a serious Privateer addict back in teh day. I always wondered why they never made a DX or OGL port of that game. Ive been waiting for quite awile for a game to come along with the same feel to it. Freelancer tries but falls short. The in-space graphics are ok but nothing spectacular. Being able to switch to c**kpit view is almost useless..its obvious that the game was meant to be ..um..."console-ish". Switching to c**kpit and firing any of the weapons for more than say a min stragiht is an almost guarennteed headache. The planetary graphics are laughable as is the in game banter. "you new here?"...."yer new here arent you"....."yer new here arent you". If yer gonna cheese out and use a 3d engine for cutscenes alittle more interaction would be nice...mabey being able to move around. High quality CGI cutscenes OR poor quality and involvement. PICK ONE. IMHO a rushed game with gobs of potential that falls short.

This game has pretty nice space gfx, and runs great with full everything and 4xAA and 8xAnistropic filtering on my GeForce 4400. only think i cant figure out is of it's suppost to quit once you reach level 2.Also, I have the Nimo Codec pack installed and the sound works for me just fine.-Null

i'm playin the full version right now, it's no different than the demo. the premise has a tonne of potential, but the on planet engine is a little repetative. they only have like five people doing the voices for like 30 characters, and alot of the voices are real wimpy and plain. this game does feel rushed, too bad microsoft decided to take the quick route. games like this are why people download warez and not go out and buy them when they come out. game companies are making so much garbage these days. has there really been any originality since wolfenstein 1 and warcraft? or just slight variations of all those games with fancier graphics? i think the developers are spending too many resources on making games shiny looking and graphically superior and leaving short everything else like content. we need more story and story implementation to stay interested for the course of the game. not just a marketing machine telling us how good the game is gonna be, then let it suck serious anus when it's released. man the cut scenes are cheesy in this game! what a piss off this game was, got me likin it soo much till i played more than 3 hours of it. a very flat game. and any reviewer who says otherwise has been paid to help sell the game!

starlancer was a good game, this looks a lot like it but with better graphics. wuts the story line like? that was one of starlancers good features.

you're caught inbetween a intergalactic power struggle. bunch of rebels vs regular army type guys ala star wars. the openning movie explains alot and is really forking cool! like i said in my previous post, a tonne of potential. but the whole thing was pretty anti climactic for me. are you new here... CHECK! if i have to hear that G#D D@mn line again i'm gonna vomit on the cd i burned it to.

actually now that i've played the game for more than give days i gotta shake my head in shame on the first post i said where any reviewer who says the game isn't flat is being paid. the game is quite slow to start off, and the bar scenes are horiibly repetative! but once the game gets going and the story starts it forking rocks! i'll put up with the bar scenes and the cheesy lines. i should have given the game more of a chance to get going before i flapped my gums. since the story started i haven't left my computer, i think i'm getting bed sores from inactivity!

Little weird that it's like 1 bar at 1 big frikin planet. The demo rocks, i want the full game TODAY!

It's not well done when u crash into a planet.

Okay its interesting,but not so revolutionary.X-beyond the Frontier had an entire selfcontained universe as well and thats like 4 years old.No joystick support at all isnt like microsoft either.In trying to be too many things,this game doesnt seem to do any of them right.Its not really a sim or an arcade game or anything.All the ships handle the same,and there is no radar display to speak of whatsoever.Space is a little big for that,no?I sense some serious bargain-bin time in this games very near future.Diablo really wasnt that fun on the ground,it certainly didnt need to make it into space.While I applaud the cooperative multiplayer features and the extensive singleplayer missions,there is just too much missing here.I give up.Im going back to play that add on pack X-tension for X-Beyond the Frontier.That is really the closest thing Ive seen to Privateer that had good graphics and gameplay.That or Freespace 2.

Sweeeet.Egosoft is working on a sequel to X-beyond and X-tension called X-2. I now have hope for the future of space sims again. :)

To anon:If you liked X-Beyond the Frontier and X-tension,how could you not like this game?It is just like X,but updated with kickass graphics and multiplyer support.You can play it online like Earth and Beyond,yet it doesn't cost you anything monthly!I will buy X2 when it comes out too,but until then I'm a Freelancer.Don't listen to that guy,BUY THIS GAME!IT ROCKS!C U Online ;)

this is a cool game.please download it as this is one of the best games

Its a good space game, very easy controls w/optmouse(joystick would probably make it suck kinda like using one in descent freespace), the demo may be a little lackluster eg; no j=stick support boohoo, not as many "bars", less space, but come on it is just a demo, the full version will include more stuff no doubt, and guess what its on a computer platform so if the custumers don't like something microsoft will just patch the game to fix it.

Im Ganna Buy This Game The Second I can get it to work on my computer i started the game for the first time and it worked fine but i died trying to go into a planets atmosphere so i when off playing another game and i came back to play this and it starts and freezes on a black screen and ive been doing losta things to get it to work i really dont want to reformat

the demo won't install on my computer. it extracts the files, but then doesn't do anything after that. any help would be appreciated.

VERY well done game.The single player story is immersive,smart,and keeps you drawn into the game.The multiplayer makes for endless gameplay and enjoyment.

Well, its not quite as good as I expected actually.For those who uses Codec pack such as Divx,NIMI's codec pack, be aware. The sound will NOT work if you have those installed. Game plat was so-so. Control was made simple enough so anyone can play it on mouse and keyboard interface. But the game play didnt quite reached the level of the good Space Sim such as FreeSpace2. But since it's just DEMO, we have to wait and see what others say about this game at the review site.

Good demo. You can really see big the game universe is going to be. The game is a hybrid of the Wing Commander and Elite series, obviously with better graphics.

Cool demo. Hey What do people know about the transition of computer games into movies and the use of graphics in this transition ?

No joystick support, no c**kpit view = no you-are-there feel. The feel, to the contrary, is quite rinky dink. BAD DESIGN DECISIONS! Demo was quite crappy compared to past Privateer games, of which this is the fourth iteration after Privateer, Privateer Righteous Fire, and Privateer The Darkening.

The demo was great, fantastic graphics and great gameplay. As far as I can tell the demo ends once your net worth reaches 25,000. There is a coc*pit view hit "Ctrl + V". I really like the spacefilght, it reminds of the old glory days of tie fighter.

This game is tight ...only downfall it might have is that it relies on other people with the game keeping up a server since all the players that come to the server save thier Characters on that server so if the person serving decides to shut down the server all those characters are gone for those people ....but other than that drawback .....THE GAME IS AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!

awsome demo, wish there was joystick suppourt though, flight simulators are just not the same when using a mouse

Some magazines have criticized the graphics, but it's the best looking space simulation game iv ever seen.

It looks like fun but that server thing sounds dicey. Anyone know if the retail version will have singleplayer? The descripstion reminds me alot of X Beyond The Frontier, and I loved that game.
