By taking the suspense, challenge and visceral charge of the original Half-Life, and adding startling new realism and responsiveness, Half-Life 2 opens the door to a world where the player's presence affects everything around him, from the physical environment to the behaviors even the emotions of both friends and enemies. The player again picks up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling. Freeman is thrust into the unenviable role of rescuing the world from the wrong he unleashed back at Black Mesa. And a lot of people he cares about are counting on him.

ATI and VALVE have teamed up to give you the chance to play Half-Life 2. The demo features some of the amazing digital actors and physical gameplay that has made Half-Life 2 the leading contender for Game of the Year 2004, the demo takes players through some of the early levels of the game and later transports them to the area of the game known as Ravenholm. The demo will debut on ati.com, and requires a Steam account to install.

there is nothing wrong wioth steam unless your a cheapass faggot who cant afford to buy games.piracy isnt always a bad thing - afterall i would be severely pissed off if i had payed £39 each for half of the games i got, and some games companys just aren't deserving of my money atall.with halflife 2 though it really is worth paying out for it & steam dosent get in the way of playing atall.while i dont like valve very much... telling us hl2 out last september (complete lie) so i go and buy a 9800xt then no sign of hl2 for another year and by then i got a x800, i still think they deserve your money, if only to fund hl3 :)afterall if evry1 downloaded games then games companys would stop making them, so infact people like me who pay for most of their games are actually covering up for assholes who never pay for a game.

i got the game today.I have played it for 5 hrs and really enjoyed it!the gameplay is great with exceptional storyline!! but there is one big problem and that is multiplayer mode!!! we can only play deathmatch or teamdeath match nothing else!!! i mean we should have some other mods........

I got HL2 the night it launched, at 2:00 in the freaking morning. And I loved every second of it. It dissapointed me that it wasn't as long as I hoped it to be though. Game of the Year all the way, better than Halo 2's ending,(cheesiest dialog i've ever heard)and more involving. Don't pass this game up unless you enjoy missing out on some of the best gameplay i've seen in years (and also one of the greatest game series of all time.) Just my 2 cents.

I agree, i think the best game series's ever created by man or beast are, in random order: Halo, Half-Life, Max Payne, Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong, Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell, Resident Evil, Silent Hill & much, much more. The list goes on & on, but those are some series's of games that have hit the computing undustry by storm (by computing i mean pc & console) You get a good few games a year, only a few shine & mybe 1 of them, 2 mybe....will hot the industry by storm. But anyway, i'm getting my new keyboard today & when i do, i'll be delving in2 the hl2 single player!! wohoo

I think steam's smashing cause it can automatically update all your games through the client, all the games on steam that is. The bad points are that some games require it to work like hl2, & it has to verify it & decrpt all the games which can take a while. Still, Valve has went far with there copyright

Icant believe this stupid shit. this is the worst demo that i have ever downloaded.even though it only took me only about a minute and 30 seconds to download this crap, on my 4 thousand dollar computer, it was deffinetelly not worth it. i just want to tell everyone never download any halflife games or buy them either, isure am not.

I just started playing through the game this morning & i never left my arse never left my chair till it was way in2 21.00 hrs. Ive gotten to chapter 8 in 1 sitting (they don't call me hardcore harry for nuffin........if my name was harry that is....er...no) Anyway, I think hl2, so far, is an amazing game which is a worthy sucsesssor to the original. Mike your an idiot, only idiots don't see quality when it's put right there in there face. It's not as good as i had thought it was by seeing it in all the vids & in the e3 2003 & 4 demonstrations, but it's a damn good game which has absolutely excellent in-game cutscenes

steam sucks, but awesome game.To play online you need steam, but with a little trick, its possible to play without steam.Completed the full gameEnding sucks big time.With a good system its even more fun.runs great on:AMD Barton 2500+Radeon X800Pro1024MB DDR memoryno lag with setting at max. with resolution 1280x1024 DAMN sweet graphics :P
