TORCS is a 3D racing car simulator using OpenGL. The game allows you to drive in races against opponents simulated by the computer and to develop your own computer-controlled driver (also called a robot). You can use either a wheel or keyboard or mouse to drive yourself.
Once you have developed a decent Robot you can enter championship events organized by the many fans of the game. You can find out more by reading the Robot tutorial, a link to which is available by following the download tab above.
TORCS is available for Linux and Windows.

Very nice open source game ;) I think the Windows one had some bugs, as it was just a port from Linux.

You can tell how good a game is from two bad screen shots? Wow, your good.K, Doom 3, that's one good OpenGL game. Hmm I wonder if my GeForce 256 will play this at 1600 x1200 x 32, full details, full distance, full reflections, full ai, at 100+fps. Ok probably not. This thing rivals any recent racing games graphics wise.

I agree that graphics is not the best feature in this game, but the gameplay is very nice - its a mix of nfs and test drive 4/5. Ill say if it was sold in 96/97 it could have been priced 20$. Very nice physics, car handling, can pause/resume/restart race, i say its worth a try!

First of all, concidering that its a freegame, the graphics are pretty good, its still open GL, dont expect to have a Proj. Gotham, or Grand Turismo look alike. But non the less its a fairly good game. The driving is simple, but a tad on the sensiive side. The sound is good(remeber this is all concidering that its a free game), and the number of tracks and cars are good, the tracks are pretty diffrent, and the cars handle very diffrent also. This game is a good 30 minute game, a last resort game.
