Select arcade mode, and don't type any name when the game asks you to. Then put the flashing cursor on letters az, each gives you a different character and press start.
Beat the game with both sides to get EXTRA mode, this is harder then the first, but you get to start out with all the suits. Lose one, and its gone for good.
to get elmeth you need to have the ranking of two lines and a triangle then in the space battle you will fight dom and elmeth kill elmeth before your friend and you will have him in vs mode.

Beat the game in Zeon mode. After the last mission, you get a message that satellite orbit is been attacked, take on the mission and beat the secret Gundam double X to have it in versus mode
