Must be a bottle neck somewhere. its fine on mine running @ 1024x768.

of course the beta will lag for some, i only have 1.3ghz p3, 9700pro, pc133 256mg sdram, and the beta runs sweet(no lag at all) with gfx all the way up 1024x768, but since it was just a betta there not going to make it run 100% on all systems, only the machines that they ran it on to make the beta demo.

You have to alter the CRG in the DoomIII demo ati cards 9600/9700/9800 need to use OpenGL 2.0 Nvidia cards are listed NV20/NV30/NV35 Turn on compressed textures and set your res 800X600 - 1024X768 AND MAKE SURE OPENGL CLAMP IS OFF

if this is anything like previous dooms then there is gonna be a high ammount of enemies on screen in the later levels, i got a feeling even my £1500 pc is gonna have smoke comin out of the graphics card by the time i completed it & im probably gonna need glasses after staring at 11fps for 6 straight hours:pthe graphics do look amazing but i dont think there wil be anyone with a pc that can cope with these graphics without some sort of slowdown, especially as i usually only consider a game to be running smooth and playable at over 40fps. anything below that just makes the game very annoying and unplayable to me.

with doom3 and quake4 2004 is a big year for gamers.

when the game ship it will be optimized and will run well in most of systems (always happend this, look at quake3). In other hand I read that in some scenes there are more that 10 enemies attacking you.

most of the newest games will not run on the newest hardware maxed out. it just will not happen. and if you play it at max, fps will be very low.....and when a character is on screen, bu bye. even for games like far cry, half life 2 and one that is already out, dues ex 2, the graphics are all dx9, but the vidio cards are not powerfull enough for the throughput of pixels, vertex shaders, and what not. bump mapping is another issue when it comes to performance. when doom 3 (full game) comes out, everything is bump mapped, characters, maps, all. and with this level of detail, 1280X1024 might even be hard to get on the best pc. i have the beta, and it runs good, but its at 800x600 and i have a 9800 pro 128MB, P4 2.7 gig, 1 gig of pc 3200 corsair ram, 80 gig hdd with 8MB of cache, P4G8X mobo, and when a character hits the screen, fps get pretty shady.but the games will rock, even if you cant max out everything.

Hmmm.. i've noticed that most people posting here have Radeon 9800 pro's or similar. you people might have an awful lot of money, but please remember that the vast majority of gamers can't afford such cards. Doom 3 is being released on the XBOX, which is extremely capable of carrying out complex bump-mapping processes. chances are, it will run much better than most computer systems, although it only has to run at 640x480 to look good on a TV. if you don't have an R9800 i would strongly advise just buying an XBOX. it's half the price with a similar level of power. Anyone who calls the box crap obviously has the ageing PS2 and wishes they had access to games like Deus Ex 2 and Doom 3. but for those of you who have R9800, i wouldnt worry about performance. The version you may have got hold of is not in fact a beta version, but an "alpha", which is a pre-testing version. basically, dont get depressed if this alpha runs slowly, because the final version will be very different from any version you will have played.looking forward to its release !

"640x480 to look good" by bobjob64sorry man, thats an oxymoron. nothing can "look good" at that res.dont buy an xbox people, unless you first find out how to use the buffer overflow to install linux onto it, so you can use it as a real computer, or just get a pc for christ sake. if you can run doom 3 when it comes out: just wait. the price of vid cards will drop, and the game will be just as fun later on when you can afford it. xbox may be half the price, but its got less than half the features of a pc. and it can nevr be upgraded. ever. its allready underperforming compared to pc, so why even bother.and that xbox screenshot actually looks a little cartoony. reminds me of turok 2 or something.

like i said,,, even the best pc out today will not run it maxed perfect. i am positive. 3.3 gigahertz still wont be good enough. mabye a 4 gigahertz when it is out, but that is years away.........

It has nothing to do with your processor. Anything above 1.4 Ghz will be move then suffiecent. Its your video card that will determine how this runs.

hmmm yeah I guess we can trust ID soft and say this will be a good game, they never really let us down before.... even though Im not a fan of Quake games, I prefer the Unreal series more. But doom is always a favourite. This game seems to throw the old doom gameplay out the window and go for a maybe smaller scale less massive hordes of bad guys.

BobJob u moron those screens are takin off the PC version screenshots. i swear if i live in my city i'd split your head open for sayin stupid stuff like that. second the Requierments for Doom 3 are 1 Ghz P4 or AMD. 256 MB Ram and A Geforce 3. the X-Box version will be so dumbed down it will be a disgrace to the Original game itself. if u have an X-Box congrats u just bought a big black and green pile of turd. and last DX IW runs perfect on my GeForce FX 5200 and im getting a 9800XT for half the retail price.
