Allegiance Source Code Released

Allegiance was a Microsoft game, released in 2000, which failed to make a dent in the market. With time however, a dedicated following for the game emerged which surprised everyone with its community spirit.

In order to thank those people, Microsoft decided to release the source code for the game.

This is what the developers had to say We're astounded at the progress that has been made at creating new factions, hosting new servers, replacing authentication, etc. It seems that Allegiance hasn't really died.

With that in mind, we're releasing the Allegiance source code to the community.

It took some work to come to this decision. The chief concern was that the development team (who are all off doing new projects) would have to take too much time to reconstruct the build environment to work with the latest tools, pretty up the code, scrub the comments, etc. Since it was impossible to free up the time for the development team to do this work, we were left with the choice to release it as is (unsupported) or skip it altogether. Given where the Allegiance community has gone with NO SOURCES WHATSOEVER we decided that it would serve the community better to release the sources unsupported.

lol... you guys think you can just download the source for this game and play it? like the hl2 source... "I've downloaded the half life 2 source now how do I play it?" lol! there's a little thing called REsources too you know, or maybe you don't know stupid shits.

Yea i would recoomend all u ppls not to waste ur time with such games as this or HL2 Stalker download was in alpha or whatever but that game will be the best it has the best graphics engine in the world nothing comes close to it including farcry, that is resources per quality u get better or equal graphics to farcry but will run perfect,,, ex a geforce2 runing farcry graphics that would only be possible wit like a radeon 9800 xt but since stalkers engine is so advnced u can run it wit all quality or most quality feat on geforce 3

Why swear my foolish fools. It shows the patheticness of individuals. Obviously Gay people can't help themselves. This game is good, simple but very intense.It was a shame that it was multi player only, as broadband wern't big back then. The sourse code will go far for those who understand it. Decent AI scripts can be made etc.I agree the freelancer was quite obviously used within part of this.Gay Jimbo, next time i play this game, I will frag me up a queer.Stay out the brown and in the pink, when you are in the brown you are in the stink.

this game was, and still is one of the best space combat games on the scene - altho MS dropped it, i dont care what anyone says, it is 100% tops. the only reason it did fail in my eyes is because microsoft tried hard to sell it as a premium product - so the only way to enjoy playing it was to pay for it, much like asherons call - you had to pay to play it.mind you, this game is entirely based online, so there is no real single player to it.once again, im glad to see a community still supporting it, and if only i had a connection greater than 56k, i would be on there right now instead of explaining how much of a loss this is to MS, but a great gain to the community - long live allegiance

Oh, and Gay Jimbo...don't know why everyone's so mean to you, you said the truth :)Anyway, but I think the resources are included, look at the filesize: 511 MB. But I doubt if any of the people you describe would know how to compile (which by the way isn't what this release was meant for :P)
