Steve Jackson Games will produce a Generic Universal RolePlaying System (GURPS) adaptation of FIRAXIS Games-developed Alpha Centauri. GURPS Alpha Centauri is scheduled for a first quarter 2001 release. GURPS Alpha Centauri will allow players to take the role of their favorite Alpha Centauri characters and explore situations the only limit will be the players imagination. In line with the success of GURPS Myth, bases on the game by Bungie, the developers expect GURPS Alpha Centauri to win new gamers over and to enjoy similar success.
"It's exciting to know that people outside of the computer game industry will be able to experience the intriguing world of Alpha Centauri," reported Sid Meier, chairman and director of creative development at FIRAXIS Games, to Daily Radar. "It's a deeply fun and challenging game on any platform."

I have a question...I dont exactly understand what this means, will the game be first person, or will you just be able to move stuff around again like in the original. And will it be an RPG?

I think That Alpha Centauri was a very Difucult game...not for everyone...And i think this will make things worse for the Common Player
