Apple Blames Users For iPhone 3G Overheating

Several users and tech writers have reported severe cases of iPhone 3GS overheating. The Le Journal Du Geek writer posted pictures of a white phone that turned brown due to overheating!!

Today, Apple issued a statement where it admitted the problem, but still blamed it on the users' behavior.

Apple's statement listed the following actions as the main reasons behind iPhone 3G overheating:
• Leaving the device in a car on a hot day.
• Leaving it in direct sunlight for extended amounts of time.
• Using certain applications in hot conditions or direct sunlight for long periods of time, such as GPS tracking in a car on a sunny day or listening to music while in direct sunlight.

The statement also noted that if the interior temperature of the iPhone 3G exceeds normal operating temperatures, it attempts to regulate its temperature by doing the following:
• The device stops charging
• Display dims
• Weak cellular signal
• Temperature warning screen appears with the message "iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it"

Intel makes CPUs that can be left on all day with a game running, Nvidia makes GPUs that can be left on all day. If they made CPU/GPU that couldnt be left on all day, they would have gone bust a long time ago. My point is, dont sell something that cant do simple tasks for more than half an hour, and if you do, DONT BLAME THE GUY WHO JUST SPENT £600+ ON YOUR SHT TECHNOLOGY.A little hint about the MG captcha system. You cant type any word with "c0m" in it, just replace the "o" with a "0" like i just did.

Not all that supprising, it may be inconviniet as its a portable device. But you can see how Apple would put this under the same umbrella as "you cant operate the touch screen without fault if you are roided up muscle chud whamming down on the screen". Its outside normal operating parameters, so fair enough. Apple should be more upfront about it though, which they never are and never will be. They have bad customer service IMHO.
