ATI Catalyst 4.10

ATI has released version 4.10 of its Catalyst driver suite for the Radeon family of graphics cards. This new version is a major update to the company's drivers with plenty of new features and many performance increases. ATI, using Doom 3 performance as a benchmark, reports performance increases in all its Radeon boards which range from 3 to 14 per cent.

New Features

Enhanced Rotation Support for Extended Desktop View

The CATALYST Software Suite 4.10 provides support for Rotation mode in extended desktop view. Currently rotation hotkeys are implemented for simultaneous view but are disabled when the system is in extended desktop mode. This feature will be supported under the Windows XP operating system and is supported on all currently shipping ATI Desktop products.

720p and 1080i HDTV Mode Support

The CATALYST Software Suite 4.10 introduces support for both 720p and 1080i HDTV mode for both CRTs and DFPs. A new properties tab labeled Troubleshoot is added to the ATI Classic Control Panel for both the FPD and Monitor properties page. The Troubleshoot tab will allow users to force 720p and 1080i modes.

CATALYST A.I.

CATALYST A.I. allows the driver to intelligently analyze applications and textures to maximize graphics performance and enhance stability while delivering the absolute highest visual quality

ATI Catalyst 4.10

Hey there....i modded my 9800 Pro into a 9800 XT, so i've been monitoring the temperature and overdriving with the 9800 XT's overdrive feature. But since i installed Cat 4.10, the overdrive tab is gone. It still says that it's a 9800 XT but where's my damn temperature monitoring?Anyone else having this problem?Any suggestions on how to resolve?

ATI Catalyst 4.10

Yeah, if you run back to nvidia, you must be a fool. They've been releasing a lot of crappy vid cards (from the g4mx all the way up to the 5600 is crap. only 5700 is pretty close to being worth the money for it).

ATI Catalyst 4.10

I don't know about ATI anymore. Sure, they have the faster cards at the moment, but that is apt to change at any time. The thing I dislike about them is their total lack of linux support. There are no 64 bit linux drivers for ATI cards at the time, which means that I have to run without any hardware 3d acceleration.nVidia on the other hand has embraced the linux community, and currently has drivers for various archetectures, ia64 (itanium), x86-64(amd64) and even freeBSD. This does not impress.

ATI Catalyst 4.10

LMAO i find it funny how all the linux crowd is bitching at the lack of ATI software support. i find this funny because even though its true, linux users mostly depend on 3rd party software so why don't you build your own drivers. ah thats right its not easy but then again your using an OS thats not for the average user. for my own curiosity, how many good linux games are there? i'm not going to tell you ppl how to use your computers but thats the price you pay for choosing linux. its the same reason why many ppl aren't using MACs, because its not a gaming system. go get duel boot or something, problem solved. no money? then don't buy windows just get windows. its a known fact that bill gets richer everyday regardless of piraters. yes thats my justification, and if i were as rich as him i wouldn't give a shit either.

ATI Catalyst 4.10

UT2004 is supported, and you can get pretty much anything working with Cedega.Sure, linux is not for the average user, but using it doesn't mean that we are capable of writing our own high level video card drivers. The thing is though, that once some open source graphics drivers are released, gaming is going to shift to Linux entirely. Windows is much too slow for video games ;)

ATI Catalyst 4.10

most instable driver version for me. I think this DOOM 3 hype should be long burried, seems to me they optimized it too much for it by sacreficing stability of other appilications.

ATI Catalyst 4.10

No kidding. Doom3 needs too die a horrible death. That game was so boring and repetitive. Now i see they release the sdk. Yawn.Word to developers use the Pain engine or the ut3 engine. Doom3 sucks.

ATI Catalyst 4.10

guys chill doom 3 was great, it was meant for the old school fans, not tactical shooter fans, also the new drivers dont make any diference, just ati's way of saying where sorry for sucking,i own an radeon 9600 SE,

ATI Catalyst 4.10

I dont really reccomend these driver's as i upgraded to them, played COD UO for the first 10 min's to see if thier was any change's only to find that it locks my computer leaving me only one choice but to restart, i did not have this with my previous drivers!!!!

ATI Catalyst 4.10

Ummmm, what ive realised here is people crying and bitching about 2 companies who are in fact owned by the same share holders, sales execs etc, so no matter wtf u buy Nvidia or ATi, the same men in suits are making the money.I have sources to proves this easily, and if u didnt know all this time that its the same situation (even before this one) as Intel and AMD.Ever played Monopoly??

ATI Catalyst 4.10

OMG penguin lol.. U mean sort of like how the GEORGE BUSH family does business with the actual BIN LADENS themselves in Saudi Arabia through the massive CARLYLE GROUP ENTERPRISE which they all have huge shares in?? and u mean monopoly as in how GEORGE BUSH makes actual personal huge earnings from being engaged in WAR with military equipment being used extensively, while coincidentaly the CARLYLE GROUP ENTERPRISE owns "Army Defense" which is a huge company which manufactures military equipment coincidentally being used extensively in Baghdad??I SEE YOUR POINT! u TELL THEM SON!!

ATI Catalyst 4.10

ATI is freaking worthless. They are the most lame excuse for a videocard I have ever seen. Hell, I had more fun with a 2mb Trident PCI card then I EVER had with any Radeon product. Want to know why? The #@$!ing Trident actually WORKED that's why. When you by a ATI card, it's like rolling dice each time you play a new game, and the odds are NOT in your favor. Bugs, errors, and game crashes are terms most commonly associated with ATI's drivers. The ATI developement team couldn't write a stable set of drivers if their life depended on it. ATI doesn't care about the gamer or the quality of the game. All they card about is frames per second and taking your money. Then after they have your hard earned cash, if you have a problem, they wait around hoping you will quit bothering them and forget about it. They never actually solve anything, they are truely worthless bastards...
