Blizzard announces UK WoW subscription price hike

Contrary to most instances of pricing disparity between the UK and the rest of Europe, subscriptions to World of Warcraft have always been a little cheaper in Britain, with people only needing to spend £8.99 ($15) for 30 days of gameplay. However Bliizzard has now announced that it is raising the price of its regular subscription fees across the board.

It's not clear if this is to do with the recent drop in subscribers of the long time MMO, or whether it's to try and bring UK pricing in line with the rest of the EU, but it's going ahead anyway. New pricing is as follows:

30 days: £9.99 ($16.70)
90 days: £28.17 ($47)
180 days: £52.14 ($87)

"We regularly look at our pricing around the world and from time to time we make changes in light of local and regional market conditions," Blizzard said on the official forum. "As such, we want to give everyone a heads-up that we will shortly be adjusting the pound sterling subscription price of World of Warcraft."

However, Blizzard did say that anyone that is currently on a recurring subscription, IE one that re-ups automatically, it will allow that person to stay at the same rate they've had, for the next two years. Though they will need to keep the subscription automated.

Price changes will take effect along with the release of Warlords of Draenor, on 13th November.
