2K Games and Gearbox Software announced today that Borderland 2 will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows-based PC in North America on September 18, 2012 and internationally on September 21, 2012.
Currently in development by Gearbox Software, Borderlands 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed four-player cooperative shooter-looter that combined intense first-person mayhem with role-playing gameplay.
In addition, fans who pre-order the title from participating retailers will receive access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club, including rewarding in-game items and bonuses.
"The addictive gameplay and shooting and looting mayhem of the first Borderlands is back and better than ever in Borderlands 2, taking the franchise to an entirely new level," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "With more guns, more enemies, more missions, an engaging story and all-new characters, Borderlands 2 promises to bring a new era to gaming this fall."
Borderlands 2 will allow friends to play together locally via split-screen, as well as online with drop-in-drop-out capabilities.

DRM OR NO DRM? No DRM = WIN
Really?
"an engaging story" - i doubt it, almost all recent game stories are just plain sad, but lets see..

Titanic was a sad story, are you comparing FPS genre to titanic.
Really!
For the kind of game Borderland is I think the story is pretty good, I mean you can't expect Shakespeare's on an FPS can you?. I spent countless hours with the first one and all of them were pure fun. I'm in for seconds.

The story in Borderlands was great, but you weren't really immersed in it unless you were really trying to.
By the looks of it, Borderlands 2 has more cinematics and dialogues to help the player get more involved and engaged with the story. :)
Bored-erlands....
The story was non existent, go here, kill these guys, get slightly better gun, grind some moar, do short vehicle mission with appalling physics and handling, kill some moar, repeat, find treasure, the game.
I was really hyped for this when it first came out, I felt so violated when I realized the good job the trailer did to sell it to me... This one just looks more of the same imo... and sure a bazillion guns... more like 30 with slightly different ways of making damage. Not to mention the horrible rigid arcade rail shooter feel it had.
This game blows...
Borderlands was awesome.
Got a little repetitive at the end but when I played Rage recently I was amazed how poor it was. It`s fine as a tech demo for the future but the world and missions were so narrow and linear.
Borderlands felt much bigger, the shooting mechanics were/are better which is odd since ID created this genre.
Just hope it isn`t a neutered console port.
Colour me excited.
Rage as a "tech demo"?
Really, ID "Tech 5"? Really. They can shove that piece of garbage all the way up their ass. In 1990 it would've been something worth DEMOnstrating, now it's only worth DEMOlishing.

That's.. Quite a long wait..
For a game that will look extremely outdated once it releases.

7 months for release is a long wait?, Should I remind you of Duke Nukem and how that wait wasn't worth it at all?.
Outdated look?.... Nah, you can't be serious...., well I hope you aren't.
