Bungie responds to Destiny expansion complaints

Fans of Bungie's FPS MMO, Destiny, have been up in arms since the release of the Taken King expansion for the game, which is priced at $60, despite offering far less than the original game. They're also angry that the reason the price tag is so high, is because it comes with the base game and other expansions, prompting them to rebuy it in order to get all of the content.

There are even other versions of the game which cost even more, and all they really add for veteran players are new emotes.

Bungie has now responded to the complaints, pushing community manager David Dague out front and centre to discuss it. He said on the official forum:

"I'm catching up on a lot of conversation about The Taken King," he said "Please know that we're reading this feedback and taking it as seriously - as we always do. Destiny is a great game because we worked together to make it that way over the course of the past year. That partnership has not changed."

"I understand that you want me to go on record right now with something that will address the disappointment that's being expressed here. I'm going to defer to the Bungie Weekly Update, in which we'll talk more about the things we're doing to celebrate the year-one Guardians who helped us build this community. I'll also revisit our goals in offering different versions of The Taken King. Ever heard the old adage about trying to please everyone?"

While he went on to spend some time pointing out that the Taken King had been bought plenty of times, including the expensive collector's editions to get the new emotes, he then went on to defer to the upcoming Destiny weekly address.

So I guess we'll have to wait and see to find out why Bungie wanted to fleece its fans so much.

How do you guys feel about this expensive expansion?
