Call Of Duty 5 Announced. Still Modern Warfare

Despite widespread rumors that the next Call Of Duty will head back to its WWII origins, Activision confirmed that Call Of Duty 5 is in fact underway and that it will keep its healthy "modern warfare" trend.

"For Call of Duty, we'll bring the intensity of the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare title to yet a new military theater, to engage our significantly larger user based, which nearly doubled last year as new users came into the franchise", said Activision CEO Mike Griffith.

"We'll launch on all four platforms we participated on in fiscal 2008 plus we will launch on the PS2 and the Wii. We'll drive category sales of downloadable maps and enhanced Call of Duty 4 retail SKUs."

Call of Duty 5 will be available before April 2009 on the PC, Playstation 3, Playstation 2, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS.

"For Call of Duty, we'll bring the intensity of the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare title to yet a new military theater"The quote says that they are going to bring the 'INTENSITY' of Call of Duty 4 to a different theater. This doesn't disprove that it going to be a boring WW2 romp in the pacific.

Its unfortunate that even if they are making a COD5 we all know that its going to be developed by "Treyarch Invention." And not Infinity Ward. So i do not have any high hopes at all for this, especially since it took how long for them to make a sequel, a year?!??! Thats just way 2 fast, it will not sell well at all, not like COD4.

Fiction is great. It shows that a developer has a creative mind, and the ppl behind it actually had the ability to create a game off fictional things than things that are actually going on. Real things in real life have limits, and creating a game solely on what you think works might be best. COD4 sold more copies then any war game out. Its fictional but a, it sold well because they knew what they were doing.

You know what would refresh the series?Having the story revolve around the "bad guys" for once. I'd love to play through a guerrilla-style campaign where the player is part of a rebel faction or something.Anything besides the cowboy bulls**t they've been feeding us constantly.
