Command and Conquer not entirely dead

It was only a few weeks ago that we heard EA was shutting down the studio it had created purely to build the next Command and Conquer game and shutting the game down permanently, despite the fact that it was supposedly not far from release.

However now EA has announced that while it may have put Victory Studios on the chopping block, but it wasn't ready to throw away the spiritual Generals sequel just yet.

"For those of you who bought The C&C Ultimate Collection, your early access to the beta will be honored once production of this title resumes under a new studio," reads the EA announcement.

"We would like to thank you for your time and interest in Command & Conquer, and we look forward to sharing the news with you when production resumes on this title in the future."

It's not clear from the announcement which studio it will be, or if the production will continue any time soon, though the longer EA waits, the more the fame will need overhauling as assets become outdated.

I for one though would have loved to have seen this game come to fruition. While it wasn't the most innovative or even that exciting sounding a game, it was the sequel to one of my favourite games of all time. CnC Generals and its expansion Zero Hour ended up keeping me entertained for years. I racked up thousands of games.

Man, remember no-rush games? Do people still play those in RTS games? It's been so long since I played one.
