Dual X1950 Pro Card Next Month

One product, making its debut at CES, seems quite interesting as it will be an attempt to bring ATI back on the high end market following the release of the nVidia GF8800.

Sapphire, used the Las Vegas exhibition to showcase its new X1950 Pro Dual card, a board that features two X1950 Pro GPUs on a single card. This crossfire setup includes a full 512 MB of memory per GPU offering a total of 1 GB per card. The card offers additional potential as it is ready for a quad CrossFire setup.

Sapphire expects to be ready to ship this new product by mid next month while the expected price is USD 399. While not really a new product, no DX10 support, this new card will offer an additional option for those after a serious gaming rig.

yeah whoever would buy this thing is retarded since it isn't DX10, although the price tag is about right, but still a poor move in buying that much power without DX10 support, itd be a waste of money. If it were DX10 it'd carry a bit more weight to the price though.

Hate it or Love it, this is a giant ass card and it is a step up in terms of how video cards can move so quickly.. What I see ATI or Sapphire doing with this is taking the DX10 ATI card and putting 2 GPUs in that card and crossfiring it and blam.. goodbye 8800GTX SLI? Who knows, but this might be the start of external GPUs.. I mean look at it, f**kin huge ass card.

-Crysis is able to run on a geforce 7. Plus DirectX 10 doesn't include many new features, it generally makes the entire process a lot more efficient so that more can be done with the same power. Given the choice of either a DX 9 or a DX 10 card, I know which one I'd buy.

Heh, What you haven't heard is there are already External GPU's being made for laptops, soon there will be ones for desktops. Having this type of card in your system woould fry every around it, and having more than one would require at least another PSU.

This looks like an damn great card, but it's not DX10 supported and it wont be useable if you play the newest games like Battlefield (some) when DX10 is the s**t.. you know what i mean.. but, indeed it's a great card and it will deliver pure and extraordinary graphics to those who still run DX9 games (like me).. BTW, Vista sucks!

Anonymousat 3:16...i bet its the saphire version?I just got the HIS x1950pro and its nice n quite.Bought that make cos i read the saphire 1 was poorly cooled and the fan screams to try n bring temps down.Great card for the money and will do me till 2nd gen dx10 cards are out when they will be used as intended with a few dx10 games.

though i agree with the dx10 argument, its not a big one. they are going to make dx10 for XP, but its going to be scaled back. my guess is that someone will make a hacked version of vistaDX10 and port it to XP. from what i understand, vista is just XP with DRM. its not going to get you further with anything.... well, it will because "they" will make it so.my concern is that its a saphire card. my dad had one of those and my previous gen card kicked the s**t out of it.

Holy shyt new gen cards are getting a bigger and fregin’ bigger!! To top it all off its ganna hurt my damn wallet to pay the electricity bill!! And I know Microsoft is being an ass by making halo 2 DX10 only I know someone is ganna crack that game!!

developers would be stupid to make games for dx10 only for at least 2 years after its release, the majority of people are NOT going to run out and buy a 600$ card for dx10, especially right now when the support for it given how new it is will be low, wait for a dx10 card kthxbye

@ Anonymous at 16:47 19/1/2007Have a look at the Thermalight HR-03 for a single gpu 1950 pro or xt version; it will keep it cool silently with no need for a fan for as long as you have good case airflow. It's no solution for this new dual GPU beast though unless you can fit two HR-03 on the card which would make it huge!

IMHO you should just get a single 8800gts and you will be set for the next year.. it only costs 360USD atm which is cheap for the performance you get in return.A quad 1950 is gonna hog power cost way more than its worth and doesnt have DX10.I like ATI products dont get me wrong but this thing would be a waste of money.
