Dungeon Keeper Mentor Voice to Feature in War for the Overworld

Dungeon Keeper Voice

The man who's voice echoed in the ears of Dungeon Keepers the world over, Richard Ridings, has been hired on by Subterranean Games to voice the same sort of mentor character in War for the Overworld, a game heavily inspired by the likes of DK 1 and 2 as well as other base building, minion controlling titles like Evil Genius.

Announced yesterday on the company's twitter feed and various websites, Subterranean Games was able to take on the vocal talents of Mr Ridings because it reached its latest flex goal. This is a little different than the standard stretch goals offered by other companies, as it allows for a bit of consumer control over what's added to the games. The next goals are at £25,000 ($40,000) £50,000 ($80,000) and £75,000 ($120,000) respectively and offer such incentives as controller support, new campaign levels or the addition of a co-op/competitive campaign and potentially even the inclusion of a completely different game mode - a MOBA style map.

How that last point would work within the confines of a Dungeon Keeper style base builder, remains in the minds of the game's creators at this point, but it certainly sounds interesting.

Funding is still continuing on the Subterranean site and likely will go on throughout the game's development, much in the same way Star Citizen has. This allows for much greater funding than can be achieved on a short Kickstarter campaign, so if you want to contribute, head on over now.

This is actually one of the more exciting games I've seen come out of the Kickstarter scene and one I'm eagerly looking forward to playing when it's released "by August 30th 2013."
