EA Has New Strategy

EA titles have, for a very long time, been at the top of the sales charts all over the world but one game genre seems to be eluding the publisher. Strategy games, especially RPG and RTS titles, have not been EAs strong point but two new deals plan to change all that.
Electronic Arts announced a worldwide publishing agreement with celebrated game designer Chris Taylor of Gas Powered Games. The two companies have partnered to create a Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game for the PC. The new title is slated for release in 2006.

EA completed its startegic moves by announcing another exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with start-up development studio, Castaway Entertainment. Based in Redwood City, CA the independent game studio currently includes eight creative, artistic and technical staffers, who are credited with the creation of blockbuster hits Diablo, Diablo II and Diablo II: Lords of Destruction expansion pack. Development of a new action-RPG title is already underway, and the team is beginning to staff up to produce this major title.

activision and acclaim are the companies that SUCK! EA has developed and published far better games than activision and acclaim combined. Yes, both the A companies release some decent and even great games, but those are always few and far in between.

I am glad that I am not the only one who HATES EA.Westwood was one of my favorite game companies. Thank you Ea.They now own the Command & Conquer License and they have to go out of company to find a new RTS?????That is pathetic. EA is the worst thing to ever happen to the Games Industry. I am outta here

I spent many hour's playin C&C generals; it is most imprssive.I can only see one major thing that is missin in it.It has pretty much got the balance between all three teams sorted out, except the game is missing one crucial element, to balace the whole game; the element of time.As u enter an online game u are bombarded with words like no sw or no rush, amongst other lesser pleasing words that I won't mention. For all these problems (as I see em), I belieave I have single solution that will solve them all. Do u remember the original Z steel soldier's by the bit map brothers? They had a brilliant system of award where as u took over more land ur ability to produce units increased in speed. By my guess the logic behind this system is; as u gain more land ur wealth and resources increase therefor u produce units a lot quicker as is true in real life. In Generals this could be shown by increasing the income of each supply by a precentage and also increase the rate at which unit's are produced. How more territory is gained could be propotional to how many buildigs are created rather than capturing flags, which would look a bit off in C&C generals.so now if the game is played, it wouldn't matter if some how one opponent had 5 nukes or how many Arora bombers, there is still a chance for the other guy to win if he takes over more territory, and well no rush? This is a real time strategy not turn based, ofcourse there will be rush. It add's a more natural touch, and makes for a better tactical game, with every centimeter of the map fought for, I believe. I wish for this to reach EA plz!!!!

'They have won more awards then you can count' - They didn't win them the companies they own won them EA doesn't make any game they publish games. On the note of the new strategy game all i'll say is about time!!Strategy games were voted one of the most popular genres on the PC platform yet there's been a svere lack on any good games in recent years (yes there's been a few) but no where near like quanity and of the late 90's erra.PS. Shame about westwood, they went down the same path as bullfrog (remember them) bloody good games yet broken up by EA.

Well, yeah, EA makes some fun games...but the Westwood tragedy tore me up. Maybe they'll make up for past experiences. I like Battlefield, but it is deffinitely not the game i would spend my time playing. Other FPS's have come out that are much more fun. I guess their timing was just bad :P. As for Generals, however. How dare they destroy the C&C legacy. That game had none of the features most RTS gamers loved. There were no real unique units to each army, the game was imbalanced (i don't care if they EVENTUALLY fixed it, other C&C's were so much better....oh how i remember the Tiberian Sun days...sigh), and it was a waste of money and time. I really hope they can pull themselves together for these new games....but this complete change in genre's while they still don't have a good enough grasp on their current ones to sell the most games is pretty stupid IMO. Oh well, all we can do is hope and dream.

EA annoy me... They just produce bog standard lamo games. It's like watching a factory churn out thousands of cars and then painting them different colours and then claiming that they are all unique. So gay.

I would just like to thank Ea for bringing down Westwood. Nice job FAGS! Westwood was such a great company the C&C Series was awsome Renegade one of the best games i have ever seen. Yet all ruined by Ea games! EA SUCKS ASS! I mean the least they could do was keep the ladders up for all the westwood games. They dont even do that! They ruined westwood games. Nox one of my favorite games no longer has a clan server anymore. Thank you Ea! Renegade a kick ass game no longer has ladders and is lag heaven thanks to Ea.
