Eve Online Had Its BIggest Battle Ever

Eve Online

Eve Online has consistently been the game of choice for those wanting epic sized PVP battles and it's continued to do so recently, with the largest in-game battle in the title's history taking place over the weekend.

Taking place between the TEST Alliance and Goonswarm led CFC, two of the game's biggest factions, over 4,000 ships attacked each other after setting up battle lines over 80KM long and as the leader's of each side gave inspiring speeches.

TEST's general borrowed from a certain Middle Earth movie, saying: "I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of other alliances," said BoodaBooda. "A day will come again when the courage of Test fails, when we forsake our allies and break all nips and agreements. But it is not this day."

"An hour of prophecies and AHAC wrecks when the age of Test comes crashing down. But it is not this day. This day we fight. By all that you hold dear in Nullsec, I bid you, stand. Pilots of Test!"

In contrast, CFC leader Mittani wasn't quite as inspirational, suggesting instead: "The foe is doing morale pings with LOTR quotes. We're not going to bother with a morale ping because we're in the system first, we have seven Battlefleets, one AHAC fleet, two Bomber wings, one F***YouFleet, and yeah."

"GSOL are heroes: after the work of our capfleet in destroying every single hostile tower in 6VDT, GSOL threw up 26 towers in 6VDT last night , blocking every single moon. The enemy has no safe towers: nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, and must bridge into our force."

There is video of the event, but unfortunately because it would be impossible to run the game normally with so many people in such a "small" area, developer CCP Games drops the in-game speed to 10 percent of its usual value to help prevent lag, so it's not particularly dynamic, but some of the visuals are still impressive.
