FIFA 17 players can now honour deceased soccer team

Following the news that all but three members of Brazil's Chapecoense football/soccer team were killed in a plane crash earlier this week, EA Games has announced a way for FIFA 17 players to honour the fallen. Everyone who owns the game has been given a free Chapecoense kit and badge, so that whoever they are playing as, they can show their support for those who tragically lost their lives.

Chapecoense was set to play fellow Brazilian team, Atletico Nacional in Columbia as part of the Copa Sudamericana tournament, when its plane crashed killing 71 of the 77 passengers on board, including all flying members of the team. In post-humous honour, Atletico Nacional has asked the ruling commission to give the tournament title to Chapecoense.

Although this seems like a perfect representation of the slacktivism that is common place online, especially around international tragedies, the thought is there at least and will no doubt be something that a lot of gamers choose to do, to feel like they're doing their part.

Will any of you be flying the Brazilian team's colours in your games over the next few days?
