Kids kids,GeForce 6800 GT $300 dollars... Gives you 42fps ON DOOM 3 (feels capped perfectly) and gets up to 71fps in scenes (never dips below 33fps)At:1280x1024 32bit, 2xQ (temporal) FSAA, 8x AFAll settings high, Vsync auto enabled..Who gives a crap about who is better.. You see, with Doom 3 you get high performance, good prices.Personally I like nVidia for the drivers and their levels of performance you choose "GT for my LAN machine" (Ultra for me)I see $300 bucks well spent!!I don't see ATi any differently, I see them as competition that brought this good thing to me.

These drivers are said to work with all Geforce and TNT vid cards I found this is untrue. I installed the drivers and they make a protection fault come up (blue screen) at boot up, will not let you get into your computer because windows will "halt". If you dont need the drivers and you have a Ti card...I dont suggest using these.

Forceware 61.76

FACT: they dont support directx9.0c because A. it's neva gunna b released and B. cos it's not finnished. If you download the latest version of XP Pro Sp2 Rc2 you'll find directx is currently at version 9.0d.

Bull, Nvidia does a fine job with backwards compatibility.A misconception is that every new driver set should be used. Basically at some point the driver set is no longer optimized for the older cards. So unless you have game issues, there is no need to upgrade since you may just lose performance.

what is thepoint of buying an ati card if it doesnt support future features like ps3 and dx9c. if you spend 500-600 on a video card you want it to last as long as possible. if you buy an x800 or whatever ask your self this do you want to use that card for one year or do you want it for more. if they are going to not support the new features why not just call the damn card radeon 9900 or something. after the doom3 benchmarks ati is pretty much shitting where they were supposed to eat. i personally have a 5950 i bought 4 months ago and i wont upgrade untill dx10 cards come out which wont be for another 2-3 years tops. and yes i did by a 5950 because id was supposed to make the game with the 5950 in mind but i guess i was double crossed. oh well we cant always win.

14:25: first of all dx9c will never come out, so waiting for a card to support it may be hundreds of years. Im not sure why you would want to wait that long. Second, ps3 wont increase visual quality, it only increases FPS.

Thats what I f**king said! retard. A geforce 2 GTS, while a good card in its day, is no longer considered for optimizations. Of course it is gonna go slower, they are no longer concerned with your card.

What ure talking about I still use my nVIDIA RIVA RNT 2 and these drivers are just making my card better with every release. I m happy with nVIDIA. I really love it. Wish i have enought money to buy new GEFORCE. But still i can play SOldier of Fortune 2 on my RIVA TNT 2.

Forceware 61.76

My old geforce2 400mx and geforce4 work better with the new drivers. Have you ever seen the latest ATI cards try to run the Unreal3 engine? that answers my question.

I really dont care right now about the war. I have a monster gaming machine and everything runs great. But honestly, which is better, the x800 or the 6800??SPECS:AMD ATHLON 64 FX-51ASUS K8VN (NFORCE 3)ATI RADEON 9800XTCREATIVE LABS SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY 21 GIG DDR RAM (400mhz)200 GB 10,000 RPM Raid Drive

I have a radeon 9700pro. I must say though, the nvidia 6800 wins the match with the x800. the 6800 on a ps3.0 game can be %10 faster then the x800. Radeon might have lost this round.

Forceware 61.76

I take back saying they wont release directx 9.0c, you can download it officially via the distribution package with the SDK, however, a general release will be skipped. Also just so you know, you can currently get hold of the latest nvidia beta drivers here: [url removed] the time of writing the latest were v62.20

continued:so the WINNER that was picked was the "6800 ultra". why? because the average highend user will be using a barton or P4 (non EE version) overclocked. the x800 xt really needs a high end cpu to shine, but the 6800 ultra worked well with the lower end cpu's. now again the x800 xp was far from being bad it was just not as good.so yes the x800 xt is the fastest thing out there but for a larger group who do not need to upgrade motherboards and cpu's the 6800 ultra was the champ.

well i have never seen so much fighting over who is the best and what game sucks. i am going to put things straight with what we found to be true in ower rigs.what is the best card? well it is hard to say. it is just not a one answer but a whole picture that makes something good.we took a group of computers and ran test with a 6800 ultra (a friend got this when he picked up an alienware computer), x800 XT, 9800XT and an fx 5950. all we did was changed video cards but kept the same computer as is.some basic info on the computers: one barton 2500 (overclocked to 3200) one P4 2.4ghz (overclocked to 3ghz) both of these have 1024mb of ddr 333 ram and a 80gb 7200 rpm hard drive.one EE P4 3.4ghz, and one AMD 64 3400 (overclocked to a close 3800) both of these have 1536 MB of DDR 400 ram and a 74gb 10000 rpm hard drive.with most gamers the first group (who i belong to) will count the most, the second group are for people who have to much money (but i can honestly say the guys who own those rigs are down to earth).games used in test: farcry, doom 3 (with ati we did change the code for performance, we saw no visual effect change to believe that this was unfair), thief 3, homeworld 2, syberia 2 and need for speed underground.between the fx 5950 vs. the 9800xt, the 9800xt was by far the better of the two in both group one and two. but keep in mind we saw nothing wrong with the fx 5950 it just was not as good (visually or fps, when averaged with all of the games)now what we have been waiting for: the 6800 ultra vs. the x800 xt, this was at a split. in the barton 3200 and the p4 3ghz we found that the 6800 ultra was better in most cases. we believe that it is due to a cpu bottle neck problem. now when you go to the EE P4 3.4ghz and the AMD 64 3800 the x800 xt was a monster of a card. played everything at max settings with an average iq and at 1600 x 1200 (nfs underground could not go to 1600 X 1200 res. with any card).
