French website jeuxvideo has posted fresh screens from Epic's highly anticipated XBox 360 title, Gears of War. The images are rather impressive but no surprise to anyone who has followed Epic's aggressive Unreal Engine 3 marketing.
The lukewarm reception given to X360s launch lineup makes the success of games such as Gears of War all the more vital as there is a need for a flagship title for the console. Gears is an XBox exclusive and perfectly suited for the part, although the Q4, 2006 release date that has been suggested may mean that it will be competing with a lot more games, including Epic PS3 titles, when launched.
The images from the game are impressive however and suggest a true next-generation game, let us hope that Epic's good PC reputation gets an adequate translation to next-gen consoles. To view the images follow the Screens tab above.
