GeForce 8800 Ultra Hits the Stores Ahead of Schedule

About a week ahead of original schedule, Nvidia's latest and strongest DirectX 10 card has already hit the stores in Japan and USA.

The new GeForce 8800 Ultra offers a 10% to 15% performance increase over its predecessor the GeForce 8800 GTX, according to Nvidia's official reports. But for this 10% to 15% performance gain, consumers are supposed to pay more than 33% price increase, since Nvidia has priced the new card at $829 and higher.

Several stores in the U.S. now sell Nvidia GeForce 8800 Ultra-based graphics cards from BFG Technologies and EVGA at price points starting from $830 per board. And Japanese web-sites report that GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics cards from Point of View company are available in Tokyo, Japan for ¥128000 (approximately $1070).
