id Software Halts Mobile Development To Finish Doom 4

id Software has decided to halt all mobile development until Doom 4 is finished.

Studio cofounder, John Carmck, expressed his sadness for the decision but explained that the talents working on mobile titles were needed for Doom 4.

"I love doing the mobile work - taking that time, spending a month, a year or something working on a mobile project," he said.

"It was looked at as something that, yes, this is fun, this is fun for the company and it's entertaining and it makes money, but it's not a grand slam sort of thing on there. The Bethesda family really is about swinging for the fences."

Carmack revealed that id Software’s mobile team was working on two new games; one of them is basically finished. Nonetheless, both projects are put on hold until Doom 4 is in the clear.

"I hope we get back to mobile in various ways in the future," Carmack explained, "but the big real aim is blockbuster, AAA titles, and for id that means Doom 4, it means that we get the whole company behind that after we get Doom 3: BFG Edition out the door. Essentially, everybody will be focused on Doom 4 as a project."

Carmack refused to pin down a release window for Doom 4.

Idiots !! lol "RAGE" This game was bad before they patched it!! Rage game gave me the same type of feeling as the title when i first payed it!! MR.Car gave us the shooters!! They are the best type of games out there!! For the people who are in the pursuit of Graphics Fidelity!! Join the army!!

" Some times i feel like i want to join the army!! It is basically like playing FPS but better graphics!! What happens if i lag out there and it no not respawn!! "

:( Google this..!

join the army!!

as long as it`s good

Rage was pretty poor. A jumble sale of a game (rummage/yard sale for you yanks). The FPS was limited in a very tight playing space, the driving parts didn`t fit at all, forcing you to complete races to continue and the engine while future looking performed pretty badly even on high spec machines. It was a huge mis-step. It`ll have it`s fans and defenders and that`s fine but even Doom3 was more fun. I just hope they do back to the roots a bit more for a shooter. 1 or 2 enemies and bosses does not a game make. We all know Badlands was better than Rage and came out way before.

what?

remember when ID put all their eggs in one basket with RAGE?, remember what a huge piece of shit that turned out to be? ID haven't put out a decent game since quake 3, that's why Bethesda was able to acquire them, because they knew that without a large company like zenimax backing them they would go bust. because in terms of technology and ideas, they are lagging behind every other triple A studio

You do realize ID's business

You do realize ID's business isnt making games right (not for the past 15 years or so)? Just like Crytek they make a showcase game when they release a new engine, make a few bucks off of that game and, more importantly, show their potential customers (dev studios) what their engine can do. Afterwards said studios license the engine for hudreds of thousands of dollars plus royalties to make their games. Thats the business for ID, Crytek and Unreal. Another kid schooled, learn and move on.

ID = Idiots

I hate these development editorials, they treat business like religion. You have to be a complete idiot of a fan to appreciate corporate gossip. ID is the lowest denominator in the industry these days, lets see how large a hole they dig with Doom 4.

Don't talk shit about ID,

Don't talk shit about ID, they're legends, far more respected than any other developers will EVER be.

So take your bullshit elsewhere, perhaps a forum where all you 13 year old faggets gather up to talk about how much you love the COD games. (which btw, would never be what it is today, if it wasn't for ID)

silly

"Shut up Carmack, get back to work." - TRANSLATION: Carmack please stop talking and get back to making millions while I keep posting junk on the web and not going anywhere with my life.

Bullet Storm resembled the

Bullet Storm resembled the classic Doom game play and experience more than Doom 3. Doom 3 was more like DND, which corridor do you choose next. Roll, the lights go out. Scary things happen... I already have Fear, and Dead Space for my horror fix. High flying, scary, shoot'em up game play for me please. With extra guts and gore like in Soldier of Fortune. The more angry the the raters are the better, ill buy online happily.
