Intel To Halve Processor Prices

As we have come to expect Intel will be dropping its processor prices, following the much anticipated release of its Pentium 4 1.9 and 2 GHz models on Monday.

The drop in prices will be significant and will even reach 55% in some cases. Intel is also planning to release its Celeron 1.0 and 1.1 GHz soon.

The starting price for the new Pentium 4 chips will be $375 for the 1.9 GHz and $562 for the 2 GHz.
It seems that AMD will have a battle on two fronts since not only are they lagging in GHz power but Intel is also approaching their prices pretty fast.

The complete list of expected prices:

P4 2.0GHz New price(NP)$562, P4 1.9GHz NP $375

P4 1.8GHz NP $256 Old Price(OP)$562

P4 1.7GHz (NP $193 OP $352)

P4 1.6GHz (NP $163 OP $294)

P4 1.5GHz (NP $133 OP $256)

Intel To Halve Processor Prices

Ok, now its the end of AMD!!! This is Intels time. And good thing i just bought a 1.3 ghz P4 cause i can upgrade upto a 2ghz P4 in a couple months for $300 or so. Its called f**king smart shopping. Oh and by the way all you "AMD" people sorry and screw off Intel is back in town.

Intel To Halve Processor Prices

I don't think so. AMD still has an Ace up its sleeve. Intel is still running from AMD because if they weren't afraid, why would they be lowering prices? Intel knows that their pentium 4 class processors are inferior to the Athlon type processors and they are trying to level out with prices. But even then, P4s are not worth as much as they make you pay for them. You may think that you are getting a great deal but you aren't getting something that great. It may be nice to be able to brag for a while that you have a nice little 2 ghz CPU in your comp but whats even nicer for AMD customers is that they can truthfully say that their 1.5 ghz AMD Athlon still outperforms and is faster than even the mighty 2 ghz Intel Pentium 4. Mhz no longer matters. Intel's inability to design an IA-64 processor that matches the P4's stratospheric clock rates puts it at a disadvantage, after having played into the common misperception that clock rate is an accurate measurement of performance and now lacking a solid means to continue to take advantage of that ignorance. So that all means that AMD is still ahead. And with the advent of AMD's new HyperTransport technology Intel is being left behind with their old PCI bus. The world left Intel behind a long time ago, AMD is the new generation. LONG LIVE AMD and NVIDIA!

John John,Do you have an AMD. My friend has a 1Ghz AMD.He bought it because it was cheaper then the P3 at the time and now he knows that AMD is crap. It always crashes on him so that just proves that AMD it.Pentiums are more reliable, faster, cheaper and better for games than shitty old AMD. (and that's not my assumption, it's a fact - i read it in a PC magazine)

Intel To Halve Processor Prices

That PC magazine is crap. If your friend's AMD is like that then it must be the motherboard or that the chip is somehow damaged. Or maybe some sort of conflict within the computer. AMD is super reliable and stable. Rock solid. It is way faster than anything Intel can muster. Great price too. And yes I do have an AMD Athlon 1.4 Ghz 266 FSB CPU. It is way better than any Intel that I have bought. The last intel that I bought was the Pentium III because it was so crappy. That was before I overcame my bias against AMD and I wish I would have bought an Athlon back then. Also, my laptop that had a 400 mhz Athlon was outperforming my P3 750. I fully optimized the P3 and I continue to do so hoping to get something good out of it. I know my hardware, and I know that AMD is the best out there and that if anything is crap, it is Intel. LONG LIVE AMD AND NVIDIA!

Have you seen the latest prices? The 2 ghz P4 costs $562 and the fastest AMD costs $130. Thats $3 less than the slowest P4. You get more bang for your buck. And AMD is the faster of the 2. So don't tell me that INTEL chips are cheaper than AMD. LONG LIVE AMD AND NVIDIA!

Intel To Halve Processor Prices

didn't you just say ". AMD still has an Ace up its sleeve. Intel is still running from AMD because if they weren't afraid, why would they be lowering prices? " and in your last post your saying that AMD is cheaper than intel so that means that it's scared of intel by lowering it's prices. what a loser! You ripped yourself with your own post. How sad is that?

Intel To Halve Processor Prices

Do you even think before you post? What an idiot, you just ripped yoursel. AMD has always had lower prices than INTEL and ever since the Athlon came out INTEL has been runnin' trying whatever they can to subdue their competition. Now they are scared that AMD has a better product at a better price. So INTEL is trying to trick people by "lowering" its prices all the sudden. People thinkin' that since it costs more it is better and that they are dropping their prices anyways, but even then, INTEL is still ripping you off by making you buy all this expensive proprietary hardware for their inferior product. Get off my gritch bitch! LONG LIVE AMD AND NVIDIA!

Intel To Halve Processor Prices

AMD is good I know because his lowest price. And the New AMD (Atlon) will release soon But did you know that Intel already think/know about it.And they already try the new AMD chips for prove their chips.I just study in a PC school and I found that INTEL is already release the INTEL Pentium 15 GHz and they don't release it in the market because no one can buy it eitheir you John. Because it too expensive. INTEL intend to release the 20 GHz.What's did you think about:AMD Atlon 2.0 GHz with INTEL P-X 5.0 GHzWhich one you chose? No one here know about the problem of AMD Chips. Their chips are lowest price but ......Think about an House $100,000.00 with the other one $1,000,000.00 which one you would like to live in?

Intel To Halve Processor Prices

I feel it isn't Intels time to rule. A 55% decrease ain't go to make it any cheaper than an Athlon. Anyways who wants to pay $562 for a stupid 2 GHz processor. No one!!! "(sic)ness you are stupid if you think it is the end of AMD. If you want to pay $565 you are even stupider. Even though your motherboard says it can support the 2.0ghz chances are that you will need to upgrade your BIOS which will require the exact flash utility from the company, what happens if you download a wrong one? Your freakin Bios will be shot!!!" So now who is better InHELL's Pentium Whores, or AMD's Athlons. AMD's have been proven to score better with benchmarks, and InHELL's always scored crappy. What good is the speed if you don't got the power? Think about $300 for a 1.3 then another $300 for the 2.0 that is $600. I am able to build a freak AMD 1.0ghz Athlon computer with that amount!!! And you'll pay that amount just for a crappy porcessor. Remeber Pentium got recalled cause it sucked, AMD never got recalled cause it always ruled!!! AMD RULZ

i have a 1.33 ghz athlon processor, on an asus at7s motherboard (or something like that) 256 mb of ram, and a 16 mb video card, for some reason it freezes for a fraction of a second every few seconds......i know this isnt relevant to the posts but i was just wondering if anybody has any ideas on what could be wrong

Intel To Halve Processor Prices

athlon is faster than p4 but it might crash ..I know if you to build a computer with AMD processor , you need a good motherboard.. i bought ASUS motherboard and the most expensive 1..still no luck.. the computer freeze whenever i play games.. driving me crazy..p4 is slower but it's cooler and won't crash .. more stable..hope u guyz tell me what to do with my computer now? >:( ..

Intel To Halve Processor Prices

But the fact still remains... you have to buy a new motherboard and stupid RAM to go with a P4... Not to mention that the AMD chips are very nicely clockable...AMD chips will use standard DDR which is the same price as PC133 at the mo. Athlons are well stable, unless you're doing something very wrong..... And the benchmarks are better.... lol, Intel didn't tell you they mad a PIII they won't release cos it kicks the P4 did they?.... Hindering technology in the name of marketing..

Intel To Halve Processor Prices

You dumb-ass!! When you get the 2GHZ P4, you need to buy a new motherboard especially for it. That means that your P4 1.3GHZ is going to be useless to you, unless you just waste more money and buy another computer!!! That means its not smart shopping, you stupid dumb-ass!!!!
