Ninetndo Won’t Allow 3D-only Games On 3DS

In order not to alienate 3DS gamers who can't see stereoscopic 3D, Nintendo has moved back from its original stance of mandating that all 3DS games should be playable in 3D.

"We want to get software out to as many people as possible, and there are some people who just can't see 3D," 3DS producer Hideki Konno said. "We're moving away from any stance that says if you don't use the 3D functionality you can't play this game."

A platformer game demo showed by Nintendo during last year's E3 was impossible to play with the 3D slider turned all the way down as the player wouldn't be able to tell which way he is supposed to jump.
