Now You Can Play Super Mario 64 In Your Browser In HD

If you are in for a bit of nostalgia, you can play Super Mario 64 right now in your browser.

Erik Roystan Ross, a computer science student, has recreated the first level of Super Mario 64 using Unity and made it available through his website. As a bonus, Ross updated the game's graphics to HD quality.

Unity is a cross-platform game creation system developed by Unity Technologies, including a game engine and integrated development environment (IDE). The latest version, Unity 5, supports Windows, Mac, Linux/Steam OS, Unity Webplayer, Android, iOS, Blackberry 10, Windows Phone 8, Tizen, Windows Store apps, WebGL, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Playstation Vita, Wii U, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Android TV, Samsung Smart TV, Oculus Rift, and Gear VR for a total of 21 supported platforms.

Super Mario 64 was released in 1996, nearly 20 years ago. It is considered by most as the game that defined 3d platform gaming with its intuitive controls and camera angles. Hopefully, Nintendo won't take legal action to take the game down.
