Nvidia has unveiled the industry's first top-to-bottom family of PCI Express graphics processing units (GPUs), all designed to take full advantage of the additional bandwidth and features that this new I/O interconnection standard delivers. By using an innovative PCI Express (PCX) high-speed interconnect (HSI), a complex piece of networking technology that performs seamless, bi-directional interconnect protocol conversion at incredible speed lines, Nvidia can transform its current GeForce FX series into a full-family of PCI Express GPUs.

The new family includes:

Nvidia GeForce PCX 5950 - based on the DX9 GeForce architecture, this new GPU will be the jewel in the crown of the PCX line.
NVIDIA GeForce PCX 5750 - designed for high-performance gaming this will be the 5950s second-in-command.
NVIDIA GeForce PCX 5300 - will serve as the budget DX9 board

NVIDIA GeForce PCX 4300 - provides entry-level pricing coupled with strong performance and DVD playback.

The PCI Express transition is going to be an exciting time for the PC industry, stated Jen-Hsun Huang, president and CEO at NVIDIA. By aligning ourselves closely with Intel and helping define this new specification, we were able to engineer an innovative protocol engine, in HSI, that delivers the full-PCI Express feature set without any compromises. HSI and PCI Express will enable a new level of performance for high bandwidth applications like graphics and networking.

In addition, last week in Taipei, Taiwan, NVIDIA validated its family of GeForce PCX products with the industry's top motherboard, chipset, and BIOS vendors. NVIDIA has already shipped more than 1,000 PCI Express boards to customers and partners.

Products based on this new design are expected to become available in the second half of 2004 from the world's leading add-in card manufacturers including: Albatron Technology, Co. Ltd, AOpen, Anextek, ASUS Computer International, Chaintech, Gainward Co., Ltd., Gigabyte Technology, Co., Ltd., Leadtek Research, Inc., MSI, Palit Microsystems, Inc., Pine, XFX, a Division of Pine, Prolink Computer Inc,, and Sparkle.

As a Gold Sponsor of the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) Spring 2004, NVIDIA is showcasing the results of their collaborative engineering efforts with industry players, such as Intel. NVIDIA and Intel processors form the foundation for many PCs, notebooks, workstations, gaming systems, media centers, and handheld devices being produced worldwide, and they are all on display at IDF. Intel and companies like Nvidia enjoy a long-standing collaborative relationship with the common goal of driving progress in PC technology, including transitioning the PC industry to an advanced PC bus architecture, PCI Express. Since the graphics processing unit (GPU) has the largest bandwidth demand of all the PC subsystems, NVIDIA has been a key contributor to the joint definition, development, and deployment of PCI Express solutions.

Nvidia will be demonstrating their new PCX boards at IDF. For more information about Nvidia's PCI Express efforts, follow the download tab above.

Okay, no one gives a flying F#@k if ya'll have 1st post or 21st post!!!! so talk about the topic instead of how ya'll have no life and try to get 1st posts all the time..........Now with that said...If Intel is the one who basically developed PCI Express does that mean there wont be any PCI Express Mobos that support AMD CPUs, or how does that work??

Nvidia PCXs Entire Range

mobo manufacturers aren't that dumb. They want to sell. And to sell, they make lots of different types, right? Well since there is a huge amd following amongst others, there will sure to be supported....great supported boards

Reply to Divine:The PCI Express standard is just that, a standard, so Intel can't keep others from using it.To [SA]V3rT0:You're forgetting that Nvidia's cards are not native PCIE, they are simply using a bridge, while ATi's r400 PCIE cards WILL be native PCIE. This means that, all other things equal, ATi will have faster PCIE cards. Of course, neither of us can comment on how fast they will be, unless you have some pre-production silicon on your hands...

What many of you do not realize is these first few cards are not exactly optimised versions. Remember the Geforce 5800? It used some first of its kind things but unfortunately it also had some first of its kind bugs that pushed its value down significantly. Ati Im sure has probably had the same problem at some point. These first few pci express cards are likely gonna be first of their kind which means they probably will be not optimised to take the full advantages of pci express. I suggest that if you want a truly good pci express video card that you wait at least for the second generation of pci express video cards that will actually use the full potential of pci express. Sure ati's r400 may be faster than these but honestly I suggest waiting just one more year for a more optimised version to be released. By then there will be plenty of motherboards with more advanced usage of pci express technology and there will be more options instead of first of its kinds such as these. By the way, amd will probably have pci express as well though generally speaking their probably going to depend on sis and via to steal the specs from intel so that amd processors can support pci express technology since their too busy working on 64bit processing.

ATI had PCI express cards developed long before nvidia, and they are actually true pci express. better not f**k up this round of cards nvidia.either way, neither of the big companies are going ot make cards that utilize all the bandwidth pci express offers. hell, DOOM 3 is said to BARELY take advantage of AGP 8x. release shit slower...leech more money from the gamers.

[SA]V3rT0 you must be a 12 year old fanboy of Nvidia. A bridge version of PCI express will be slower then AGP8X. It's pure marketing buddy. You need to read about the info before you post. Until the next generation cards hit the market that use PCI express fully(and not a bridge version) you will see the increase bandwidth. Don't expect to see anything with the bridge version. Only slower.

They do this EVERY time, bloody nvidia thinking their so good because they publicly announce some new technology they'll be using, then suddenly cry when they realise that they actually know next to nothing about it and it performs like shit on their cards. learn nf**kier, learn my children. Silently, ATI, SGI, VIA and all those other neat little brands are creating their own versions, only taking so long because the damn things ACTUALLY work! stoopid nf**kier, they must learn one day. any kids who love nfaggier feel free to respond, i don't care....

Anon below me, the bridged versions of pci-x are in fact faster than agp 8x, quite considerably actually. bridged pci-x still offers approximately 3x the bandwidth of agp 8x. the reason why at this point doom 3 is said to barely utilize the full bandwidth of agp 8x is due to several reasons 1.) it's using an old engine, the quake 3 engine, just optimized and tweaked up the ass. 2.) doom 3 stil doesn't fully support ani alaising, which takes up a considerable amount of bandwidth. thats where ur 256mb cards come in handy to take some of that load off, so all in all while it may not utilize all the available bandwidth, the real limitation is the speed in which the transferring data can actually reach the cpu, and to get from the ram to the gpu. it's true that ati have been desgning and using several pci-x cards, true pci-x cards mind u, not bridged versions, which gives them the upper hand, having had the experience to be capable of releasing a wonderfull card, first go

nvidia needs to learn how to utilize newer techniques of anti-aliasing. And stop putting their stickers on games that run better on the radeon 9800's anyway. ATI rule and are going to drill nvidia into the ground if they don't fix their act up.

nvidia has never let me down. good card, good support etc. what ati fanboys said about nvidia is totally biased. i have an ati and it runs poorly compared to my nvidia. and nv40 will be sweet. better put a sock in it ati fanboys.

"AHA! Sure they never did! Just Benchmark your card on DX 9 games with filters and stuff and see what you got! They are bunch on liers that the only way they make money is selling LOW END card to ppl that know shlt about computers! whats with the ati this and ati that.. so what theve had the crown for the last 18-24 months.. yes it is nice to se sombody else take the lead.. but just remeber, nvidia had it for 14 years and are still have good products.. although the performance of the fx series was a little disapointing....i do remember a time where ati was relitivly unheard of and.. there cards had really poor performance..

Only got a few words for Jon. I think it would be smart to learn a bit of stuff before you post. Lying about company information is one thing, saying they had the graphics crown before your grandma was born is another thing. So if Nvidiots try to cover theire poor asses because they got lame cards that dont reach Ati to the ankle, then I seriously thinks you should have yourselfs a big cup of shut the f**k up. by the way, when was the last time I heard about Nvidia annoucing the next invincible card, and all of a sudden Ati came out with something that would mop the floor and stores from Nvidia's crap. Guys at least be smart if your gonna come here and post shit thinking it's gonna bring the money you lost back, it aint working...

It always turns around. With the gf4 ti series they were better than any ATI offering not by much but they were. Now ATI have the upper hand once again not by much. Some benchmark tests run better on GFFX some on the Radeon 9800's. Face it if ATI or Nvidia were to go bust we will end up paying more for these graphics cards than we all ready do. So all these fanboys should go f**k there mums.

Ok, so that's how things really are. Alot of us cant afford big bad boy cards, some of us can manage some mid-range cards, but most of us have low-end or past high-end cards. Wich means we are "outdated" right? No. Most of the games and applications are made to work on the older cards, so when i hear people that have lets say a Geforce4 4600 and say "OMG i need an upgrade!" that makes me laugh, cuz in the end all you do is spend your money on something you dont really need. Im not saying keep your ATI Rage 16mb forever. No, Im saying if you have something like an ATI 8500 and up or Nvidia Geforce 4 4200 and up your still damn good to play all the latest games perfectly for some time to come. Be smart with your cash. And remember there's always the overclocking you can work with.

I think it's great that Nvidia and ATI are so competetive, but there's one thing that annoys me about Nvidia... HYPE!, whenever they have released an FX card they claim it will be 17 times faster or something equally rediculous and it always turned out to be just plain lies. I just hope that with their next Gen PCI express cards that they can actually live up to some of their own hype, and deliver on what they promise.

Anonymous if Nvidia's product launches anonys you with it's hype, then their driver releases will give you a brain anerisim. Look at the CLIAMS for their recent driver release. Total Bullshit. How they can say these things and not have the FCC not pull the plug on their asses is beyond me.

It's the same old argument from way back in the 1960's. It's Ford versus Chevy, Nestles versus Hersheys, Half-Life versus Doom! It's all about what works best for you on your machine! My Nvidia 5200 Ultra runs Max Payne 2, Call Of Duty, Star Wars-Knights of the Old Republic, GTA-Vice City, Tron 2.0, all at 1024x768 with all visuals on high. (except anti-ailasing) And it runs smooth as silk! But I belive an ATI card would perform just as well because both are quality products. It all boils down to personal preference.

USA SUCK!!!!!!!YEA YOU JUST NEED TO OPEN YOUR EYES ATI ARE 10 TIME BETTER FOR IN GAME QUALITY,PRICE PERFORMANCE ,SUPPORT SO STFU AND PUT YOUR STUPID CARD DEEP IN YOUR DIRTY ASS I CANT BELEVE YOU ARE WAITHING NEAR TO 1 YEARS FOR THIS POOR CARD CALLED FX SERIES.9800 PRO AND XT OWN EASY ALL YOUR SHITY PRODUCT YES NVIDIA THE BEST CARD WITH DX 6.1

What i don't get is how biased megames seem to be towards Nvidia, these chips are not going to be true PCI-X they are going to have a second chip onboard (cos the cores themselves are still designed around AGP) to translate so you won't get all the performance of PCI-X. I stopped listening to what megames had to say a long time ago, This site now sux big grey hairy mokey balls :-)) have a good day y'all
