Rumor: Microsoft Is Modifying Xbox One Hardware Specs Before Launch

Despite being a hundred dollars more expensive than PlayStation 4, Xbox One hardware is in fact slightly less powerful than its competitor’s. Rumors have it that Microsoft is aware of that fact and is taking measures to change that before launch.

According to the rumors, Microsoft is increasing Xbox One RAM size from 8GB to 12 GB and increasing its GPU clock speed. The company is also collecting developers’ feedback regarding changes they wish to see in Xbox One hardware.

A “trusted source” confirmed to Guru3D’s Hilbert Hagedoorn that first party developers have already been notified about the GPU clock speed increase. According to him, current projects are too far in development to benefit from the specs bump. It is likely that the first games to utilize those extra clock cycles would be released in 2014.

damn you guys are hella

damn you guys are hella moronic for thinking an increase in clock speed would result in any unintended operation or failure. i would easily take the educated decisions made by real hardware engineers over ur unfounded retarded RROD rantings anyday

Bahahahaha ROFLMAO Wut?

"i would easily take the educated decisions made by real hardware engineers over ur unfounded retarded RROD rantings anyday" Would those be the same "hardware engineers" that designed the hardware failures M$ called the XBOX 360? Please, easily take the word of a profiteer over a piece of evidence based common fucking sense because for now the world needs total idiots like you to clean toilets & pick up garbage for minimum wage who can't afford not to because they waste what little money they make on dumb shit, while the smarter of us keep getting rich.

That would be great, if this

That would be great, if this was an engineering decision and not a marketing decision. Everything in these consoles has been designed around a specific operating temperature and power output - not generic one-size solutions like PC components. Given the track record of Microsoft consoles, why is it moronic to be concerned?

what I find intresting is

what I find intresting is that the GPU and CPU were both underclocked for a reason .... OVER HEATING. now they MIGHT have added an extra 4 gig of ram and they have reset the GPU clocks back to there factory setting means they have resolved one issue of overheating. but they have also reliesd that the windows 7/8 hybrid screw up OS is a major resource hog which meant they needed more ram for the "three" os on the system. Microsoft would only change hardware this close for specific reasons, one is that they solved some things, the other is that they plan to implement some new gfx features but given the xbox track record expect a lot of RROD's

12 Gigs unnecessary

My current PC system uses 8gb on windows 7, runs multiple multiple applications simutaneously which the consoles wouldn't. It has NEVER had a lack of system RAM issue. The ps 3 only had half a gig and it was fine for almost everything cept a few games. 8gb is more than sufficient for a console. 12gb is just a marketing ploy. Having even 64gb of ram will not make games run better if it only requires 4 - 8gb.

Micro$oft are totally fucking

Micro$oft are totally fucking shit! they need twelve gig because the os and background shit takes so much system resources. as for gpu speed up, it seriously needs it! Btw I don't believe it will ship with 12gig at this late stage.

so I guess the ps4 using 4gig

so I guess the ps4 using 4gig for the os alone 3gig for everything else is perfectly fine then leaving 1 gig of ram for games. where as the xbox one will now have 8gig dedicated solely for gaming while the other 4 gig for everything else. sorry but that is actually a good move for M$ sony is using graphics card ram for there system, which is good when playing games but sucks for everything else

lol?

Graphics ram has a very specific purpose, it's not used for a 'system', ever. Also who cares about everything else, its a gaming console. If you want to buy something to do both gaming and everything else buy a PC as it easily surpasses any other machine in terms of power and versatility.

I can see it now. . .

MS: *le announces POS" XBox One fanboy: AMG XBOXONE! MS: Well, hell. Why didn't we optimize our hardware *Le tweaks hw* XBox One fanboy: AMG THEY MADE IT EVEN BETTER! World: /facepalm

Too late, they already fucked

Too late, they already fucked up. It was never about the specs, otherwise Nintendo would have been out of business a long time ago. They handled every thing so shitty, my ps4 per order has me excited and will not even consider buying a xbone
