Sega is making VR 'warehouse scale'

While there's been a big debate about the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive's abilities when it comes to walking around, there is only so much you can do in your own home. When it comes to being able to walk around untethered with no boundaries, you need a lot more space and some unique hardware too.

That's what Sega is looking to put together for its project being jointly developed by Zero Latency. Sega will be opening a live warehouse space in Tokyo, where players will be able to run around shooting zombies, with real-feeling guns, motion tracked headsets in a giant open space, with many unique virtual elements.

This is not consumer grade VR, this is something much more akin to the Void experience currently being put together in the U.S.

The guns in-use are said to be military-grade, which is quite an ambiguous term, but they do look cool and we'd expect some impressive force feedback when in use.

What do you think of these bespoke VR locations? Do you think that's a better way to try VR out than at home with a Rift or Vive?
