Sony Launches Kinect Bashing Website

While Microsoft is all out and about hyping their upcoming controller-less Kinect, Sony's marketing of its MOVE motion controller seems to be amateurish to say the least.

Sony has stated explicitly that they have no intention to outspend Microsoft's Kinect's marketing budget, but creating a single page website to glorify buttons feel a bit too cheap for our taste.

The cheesy site, www.YayButtons.com, consists of nothing but a large photo of Move's Wand controller. Pressing any of the Wand's buttons causes a speech bubble to pop up, (over)glorifying the importance of buttons for gaming and claiming that it is crazy to believe that expect a button-less game not to suck.

As far as we are concerned, we believe that post launch titles are the only thing that can make or break both systems.

i dont see anything wrong,

i dont see anything wrong, its true, you need buttons or some sort of peripheral in hand to fully experience the game, whats better, having a gun in your hands or pretending to have a gun in your hands, kinect will be good application wise, but i cant see it doing to well for gaming, unless you enjoy dancing.

Sad

I love to see sony going about how buttons are important and how kinect has none. its a big overlook on their part really, anyone who played wii fit and some other wii + balance board games knows body movement controls can and should be combined with a handheld controller. So whats stopping 360 devs from combining kinect with the controller (since you dont need all the dpads and stuff you could just hold it in some weird position with one hand)? Or even M$ from releasing a simplified one handed controller?

I dont own (or care about) either console, its just that sony is getting pretty ridiculous as a company, bashing the competiton as if they were teenage gamers (sony), and we all know internet bashing totally works right?

pew

pew pew and again pew. now i don't like PS3 even more.. i think the only good PS is PSP, and about TV consoles, i stay with my xbox360. not that i'm making space for kinect when it comes out, no. i might get it someday, but only when i feel like moving to play a game. kinect doesn't replace controllers, it's just a new way to play. i think everyone agrees with me when i say that there is no way of playing EVERY game with your body. wneh microsoft came out with project natal, there were some critics that they copy from nintendo wii. does that seem like that? no, wii has a remote controller with a motion sensor, and that's the way you control the game. now sony is REALLY copying from wii with their remote controller with a motion sensor with BUTTONS. but wii had buttons too, so, sony, please don't act like you found out a break-through.

LoL

They are going on about " glorifying the importance of buttons for gaming and claiming that it is crazy to believe that expect a button-less game not to suck."

when they made the 1st eye toy.....it had no buttons....epic fail

Shut up.

That's not plagiarism yuh fruit.

Just because it is wand shaped and you hold it like a remote doesn't mean it is a rip off. The WiiMote and Move Wand work completely different. One uses a camera that tracks movement and size to determine motion, distance and rotation. The other uses 2 infrared lights that are tracked by the controller whose position is tracked to determine pointing and distance, the rest is done with gyros and other gizmos in the controller.

Why don't you harp on Microsoft for their kinect bar looking like the Wii's sensor bar. Or every toothbrush for looking like a stick with brushes on it. Maybe you should send angry letters to dodge for making automobiles that have 4 wheels since ford did it first.
