Star Citizen FPS module coming in next few weeks, apparently

Star Citizen is the most crowd funded game ever, thanks to its near endless stream of stretch goals, extra content to pre-purchase and in-game ships to upgrade... with more purchases. However that doesn't mean it isn't susceptible to the same issues faced by many other Kickstarted games, including delays.

Although the final release date was long ago pushed from the end of 2015, the FPS module is the latest to be hit with delays, with Cloud Imperium having to explain why earlier this month, when it also announced that the game's executive producer was moving on.

However just a short while later, founder Chris Roberts has come forward to say that despite the problems, the FPS module will probably launch within the next few weeks. Probably.

"When we showed [the FPS module] at PAX East, we said we hoped it was going to be out sometime in April," Roberts said in a chat with Gamers Nexus "But ‘don’t hold me to that’ was what I actually said."

"We did the update [post] in May, and obviously people have been waiting a long time for it. A large amount of the company, especially now, has been working on it."

He admitted that Cloud Imperium had been loathe to put a finished date on the FPS system, since it still required work, despite seeming to work great when it was first debuted at PAX. However, he went on to say that he was pretty confident that it would be ready for play in three to five weeks.

Just don't hold him to it.
