Watch Dogs PC minimum specs released

Watch Dogs PC minimum specs released

With all the hype and excitement surrounding the release of Titanfall, you'd be forgiven for forgetting that we're edging closer to the revised release date of Watch Dogs, one of the most hotly anticipated games of 2013. And now, we know what we'll need to run it on the PC too, as Ubisoft has unveiled the game's minimum system requirements.

Announced by creative director Jonathan Morin via Twitter, the minimum specs are as follows:

IntelCore 2 Quad Q8400 2.66Ghz or AMDPhenom II X4 940 3.0Ghz, 6GB RAM, 1024 VRAM DirectX 11 Shader 5.0 SCard: DirectX9 25 GB.

None of those are too hectic, but anyone languishing with 4GB of RAM is going to be left out in the cold. The install size is quite reasonable though, especially if you compare it to Titanfall's massive PC footprint.

What's interesting about these specs though, is that while not too hectic, you'd have assumed they would apply to the 2012 trailer as much as the recent 2014 one. The question remains then, why was the 2014 so much worse looking? The answer was that it was running on a PS4 whereas the original 2012 version was on a PC - but does that mean the final game has been neutered by console compromise?

Here's the original, prettier 2012 trailer:
