Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

A survey conducted by Game Informer found that more than half of the Xbox 360 units sold to date have experienced hardware failure.

The survey, conducted on 5000 participants, found that Xbox 360 has an astounding 54.2% failure rate, Playstation 3 failure rate is 10.6% and Wii's is just 6.8%.

Furthermore, the survey found that 41.2% of Xbox 360 owners suffered from second failure after having their consoles repaired or replaced by Microsoft.

Microsoft issued an official statement saying that:
"Microsoft stands behind the Xbox 360 as a superior entertainment console with one of the best warranties in the industry. We are constantly improving the design, manufacture and performance of the console through extensive testing of potential sources of any problems. Xbox 360 is pleased to maintain the title of 'most played console' and the vast majority of Xbox 360 customers have enjoyed a terrific gaming and entertainment experience since their first day, and continue to, day in and day out. Any Xbox 360 owners experiencing issues with their console should contact Microsoft for repairs or troubleshooting tips at www.xbox.com/support or 1-800-4-MY-XBOX."

Only 37.7% of the survey's respondents found Microsoft's customer service "very helpful." And though Sony's and Nintendo's repairs usually took a week or two, Microsoft's Xbox repairs generally took closer to a month, Game Informer noted.

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

You know I guess im the lucky percentage cause I've had the 360 arcade for 2 years played it solid and no problems. I've had the pro and play it constantly, I've left it running and nothing. MS = Fail you can say but the game content puts every other console to shame.

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

and people say the 360 is better then the ps3 lolgotta give it to nintendo tho, everyone figured they were down for the count and now they have the best selling console and the lowest fail rate, now if only they had some games i wanted to play lol

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

they both suck. One is an underperforming mere shadow of once promised bulls**t and other rushed out flawed piece of junk. Only reason id prefer 360 is cuz u can mod that s**t to play the overpriced games for free, then again risk losing a warranty with such failure rates.

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

i thinks it's fair to say the 360 was pretty advanced when it was first designed, i remember it came about when the nvidia 6800gt gfx card was the pc choice of cards so the xbox to be still shifting massive polygon counts today, and looking good for it too, i'm surprised to find the failure count was'nt higher, so advanced is the xbox that the ps3's production cost's are much greater, to be playing games in no real greater detail than the xbox can produce. i still cannot find a reason the trade my xbox in, for a ps3.failure of xbox's may be 50 odd percent or whatever, still cheaper, by far, than the ps3 and the games just keep on getting better, the live service is second to non. long live the xbox!!!p.s this is my third xbox 360 in 2 years... R.R.O.D? you bet yer arse.

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

correction it was accurate. this is from launch, as long as you were smart and waited for them the cure the rrod you can buy a console and be relatively safe now. thew new consoles have a much lower failure rate, but this number is mixing both the old and the new...

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

Before you fanboys go wild, you have to realize that the 54% they are referring to are the older models. The newer models don't have the RROD, and this statistic doesn't apply. If you are using this statistic to bash the 360, it's like using the graphics of the ps1 to bash the ps3.

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

I for 1 think that i have wasted my $$$ buying the xbox. All this hectic talk about being the best console with the best graphics and best game play really made everyone buy it, but the problem is that the failure it has over shadows the benefits it has. I have had about 4 xbox 360's including 2 new 1s and they are all the same pieces of SH$T. In my opinion? There are as much problems with the new modules as the older ones.

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

@newxbox360 you may count your age from 1-40(i your an old f**ker like that) but that doesn't mean what you do when your still really young is held against you. after all if you were to say smear s**t all over the walls as a kid, your probably not gonna be know for that for the rest of your life.(unless your mom just really really hates you)

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

and yes humans and technology are 2 different subjects and my analogy could be considered flawed for that, but so is yours then so shut it. yes the new ones still rrod, and the new ps3's still break, what matters is they 360 is breaking less, so these statistics are useless. your probably not buying a launch system today? and just because I think your a retard to use your xbox to human analogy, that'd be like being 40 year old, trying to find a 12 year old to f**k...

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

Ive owned my 360 from the day it came out back in nov 05. One time it froze in those 4 years. My friends PS3 froze twice in one day! I finally did get the RROD a couple months ago and did the $7 permanant fix so its good to go for the next 5+ years. It's too bad consoles are like they used to be... My Atari works great, same with Intellivison, NES, SNES all are still perfect. As soon as the media changed from cartriges to CD it seems like it was ok for manufacturers to design and sell flawed hardware.

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

no s**t the old modles shouldn't have been released, thank you captain f**ktard. it was a huge mistake, but then thats all microsoft does is make mistakes then take years to clean them up. which in this case they more or less have. sounds like your just pissy because you were a retard who bought the console the second it came out and got f**ked, which is your own fault for rushing towards a microsoft product. for everything they make you gotta wait at least a year for them to iron it out enough to be worth getting.

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

lol look at all the fan boys, honestly who cares if its based on the old models or not it doesnt change that fact they had a massive failure rateno wonder they've sold so many 360s, 54% of the owners have had to buy more then 1 lolhonestly you people saying you've bought 2, 3, or 4 of these things are idiots, you could have bought either of the other 2 consoles that dont constantly fail and saved a lot of money, more money then brains i guess but thats fine keep going to the forums and jerking off over your xbox while padding M$ wallet, i'll stick to my ps3 which is actually reliable and works every time i want to play

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

I bought a release 360, after about a year it had a RROD, sent it in for about a week and got a brand new system in return with the new Falcon board in it, haven't had any problems since, I wonder why service seems to vary for people, I've never heard of it taking a month to get a 360 back. I still will keep my 360 I love it to death esp since my PS3 is collecting dust atm, hope they get some new games out for the PS3 that are worth playing soon.

Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

and excatly that, lets hope there are decent games for the ps3, cos like i said previous, there is no reason to by a ps3 over xbox360, there half the price for a start and lets not even go with the ps3 being a problem free machine, because it's not and have just as many hiccups. i know a few people who have ps3 and judging by the way most online sessions are spent on my 360 rather than the ridiculous and quite often frustrating ps3 online experiance. also the shoulder grips on the ps3, especialy cod4 and such like are crap, why o why did sony choose the strange inward curve as a trigger? saying that the controller is noticably lighter and the blueray player is another plus, but with live letting you d/load hd films and letting you play whilst d/loading, who needs blueray?
