Xbox One Launching 22nd November Worldwide

Counter to most game releases, where different territories have their own preference for which day of the week it hits the shelves, Microsoft's next-gen Xbox One console will be released on the 22nd November across all markets.

Those include: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK, and USA.

That's a Friday, for those wondering. So you'll be able to pick it up on midnight and potentially game your way through 48 hours straight - though we wouldn't recommend it.

The 22nd November is also the date that the original Xbox 360 was launched back in 2005, so the Xbox One goes on sale exactly eight years later.

On top of this news, Microsoft also announced that the Xbox One was now in full production, which should mean that all pre-orders will be filled and that there will be a decent number of systems on launch day. But more than that, Microsoft is also opening up pre-orders again, so if you haven't done so yet and you want to, you can now put down a deposit to receive your $500 Xbox One, guaranteed, on launch day.

We also learned today that the Xbox One has had its CPU clock improved from 1.6GHz to 1.75GHz. While this won't do much in practical application, it does mean that technically, the Xbox One CPU is faster than the PS4s.

"Microsoft is also opening up pre-orders again" - yeah sure, didn't see that one coming. They just closed them for a bit after Sony did to make it look like demand was high. While this won't do much in practical application" - it likely does mean that this new piece of shit is gonna fuck up just like the last one.

Why the cpu clock is so low?

Why the cpu clock is so low? These cpu spec feels like a high end tablet in about two years or less. I'm sure most devs would prefer having 4 cores at 2.8ghz rather than 8 at 1.7. Multicore has it's advantage for some applications but when it comes to gaming raw power is needed. I'm not trolling here just wondering cause it seems the PS3 would be better suited cpu-wise for some types of games than a PS4 or Xbox1 which shouldn't make any sense.

Like the others said, the hardware and resources are used differently, but yeah, their version will remain inferior at some level or some ways compared to the PC; however, versions for the console will always be around. For example, the PC version of Doom 3 required more powerful hardware compared to what the Xbox had, but ID figured a way to make Doom 3 on the console work by modifying map levels and their size, changing their textures, using lower resolution and etc.; however, if you try running the PC version in a similar level quality, you'd still need a PC more powerful than the Xbox.

Console architecture is

Console architecture is different, they use the hardware in a different way a computer would, resource management is different when you have a constant hardware setup. When you speak of raw power, both consoles CPU are better than a 4 Core 3.4ghz CPU ( both totaling at around 13.6Ghz in "raw power"), simply because, with more cores you have better resource/thread management. You'll probably see the consoles using one or two cores for the system while you're playing a game, and using the 6 other cores for your delicious graphics and so on. Having one 3.4ghz core active is different than having just 1.7ghz, power efficiency has its part here, you can shut down cores that aren't being used to save power, leaving a couple of cores for a low consumption mode (as less ghz requires less power), and lower frequencies produce less heat, meaning a more quiet console. Xbox's marketing vice

Xbox's marketing vice-president, Yusuf Mehdi, announced the firm's rollout plans in a statement. "The culmination of many years of listening to you, our fans, developing innovative technology, and partnering with the best game and entertainment partners in the industry has brought us to this point," he said. "There is still a lot more work to do, but the teams are making excellent progress and are focused on launch."
