Know issues with the Beta .5

Optimization
Since this mod is a work in progress, some optimizations have been made to the models for performance. You might experience a slight slowdown due to the fact that we haven't done a full optimization pass yet.

Balancing
Currently the game feels balanced, but some things may destroy objects faster then they should, the game will continually balance out as the mod progresses. This goes for speed of vehicles, weapon damage and amount of ammo.

Airplane and Helicopters
Not all planes have a new cockpit yet, this is a work in progress.

Maps
Only maps that display a small DC logo in them have DC vehicles. This is only temporary until new maps are created. Some new DC maps do not support single player yet, coming soon.
Battle of Eastings, does support it though.

Desert Combat Public Beta v.5L Full Client

I've been a big fan of DC for some time now, however the last version never worked on my computer; single player would crash all the time. The initial download is a monster, especially with the slow servers I ever find it at but it is well worth the hour and a half wait for it!! This version works flawlessly on my computer now! A MUST HAVE fpr anyone with BF1942.To the person with the low framerates: If turning your res and detail down didn't help you're gonna have to turn down your sight distance which will suck but its that or buy a new vid card. My brother has a Duron 900mhz, 512SD Ram, and a Radeon 7000 and his can play it with everything turned down. He gets 20-25 fps.I don't know whats up with the 65 fps in MP2, maybe you are playing with too many people? I know my bro can't handle over 30 players without getting unbareable lag.If you want a more precise explanation of your problem you're gonna have to post some system specs. With my XP1700+ /w Radeon 9700 Pro and 512 DDR I never saw lag, however I never tried massive multiplayer games (over 40 players).

Sorry, I didn't realize you posted again. You really should put in a name. CPU is plenty fine, ram is plenty fine unless you are running with 64 players maybe, video card should be acceptable again as long as there arent too many players on your screen at once. Whats your hard drive setup? Make sure you only have one hard drive on each ATA slot. Is the hard drive an old one you pulled off another computer? Could cause some lag. Maybe your hard drive is highly fragmented. I assume the 25fps was single player, right? Or maybe a multiplayer game with just you in it. Since you know what is in your computer I assume you keep your drivers up to date. What chipset is on your mobo? Hmmmm... I can only suggest basic ideas because I don't know your precise situation. With your system you should be running fine. Also, a lot of the gamers here will have better systems than yours so don't assume yours is better. Personally - XP 2500+@ 3200+, 1 GB of TwinX RAM, Radeon 9700 Pro (thinking about selling it to a friend and getting a 9800 XT), Raptor HD, NF7-S mobo, and way too much cooling! :)Sorry, its a new computer and I just had to brag a little. I can just imagine in 2 years how outdated it will be if someone comes back and reads this.If you're still having trouble email me and I'll help you get it running. I hate to see someone with such a good CPU getting such crappy framerates.

Does anyone have any suggestions why i have rendering problems using my geforce ti 4400 when running Desert combat. I have the latest dirvers for the card, have the latest patches for the game. All installed fresh on a day old rebuild/install of xphome. The system is an amd 1900 xp, an asus a7m266, 512 ddr & a soundblaster live. I know this is probably not the place to post but would be greatful for any help. Ps is there any softwear which I could use to test the card ?

LO only thought it right to come back and say i found a solution. For the benefit of anyone who might need it. There are two known problems. 1) GeForce4 MX 440 and GeForce4 Ti 4400, Windows XP: Blue-screen crash during Battlefield 1942 Desert Combat.2) (this was the problem I had) GeForce FX 5950 Ultra and GeForce4 Ti 4400, Windows XP: Rendering corruption in Battlefield 1942 Desert Combat. To fix these download the drivers from the following link: [url removed] The 53.03 drivers are for the 52.16 drivers that are downloaded from Nvidia. The above is related to xp os only. cheers.
