Many in their eager anticipation of the release of Star Wars Episode II, are willing to grab any morsel of Star Wars related material thrown at them.
As a result a strange breed of short films has popped up, lovingly known as Fan Films.
Some of these are actually quite well made and have devoted fans.
If you are interested you can start by the most successful of these films which is Duality It features the story of a Sith apprentice travelling to the planet Korriban to face his trial and his destiny.
Other movies which seem pretty popular include Troops a hard hitting documentary "cops style" which carries the message:
TROOPS IS FILMED ON LOCATION WITH THE MEN OF THE IMPERIAL FORCES. ALL SUSPECTS ARE GUILTY. PERIOD! OTHERWISE THEY WOULDN'T BE SUSPECTS, WOULD THEY?...
Apparently there is a sequel in the works too.
The other Fan Film worth mention is Rogue
In all of one minute the film goes through the following storyline:
Atrocities committed in the name of the Emperor have compelled Commander Jake Dinn to go AWOL. A career military officer, Dinn has intimate knowledge of codes, invasion plans, and tactics of the great Imperial Navy.
Flying into the Nosfera System, Dinn is ruthlessly pursued by Imperial Forces intent on bringing him to justice. After a vicious dogfight with TIE fighters, Dinn crashes near an outpost on the planet Nosfera.
Seeking help will prove difficult as some locals do not trust him and will turn in into the empire if given a chance. Dinn's only hope is a Jedi witch in hiding.
