Far Cry 3 Director's Next Game Is JRPG-Inspired

During his GDC Europe session, Far Cry 3 director Patrick Plourde revealed that his next project is a Japanese RPG-inspired 2D side scrolling with turn-based battles.

Dupped "Child of Light," the new game is powered by Ubi-Art framework which was developed for recent Rayman games. Child of Light started as an internal indie project before it gained traction and it is now targeted as a next-gen game.

According to Plourde, Child of Light is influenced by Final Fantasy 4, Limbo and European fairytales.

The game director also teased a fourth Ubi-Art game that is yet to be announced. So far, Ubi-Art is powering Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends, and Child of Light.
